At a work function in melbourne on Thursday evening, I got chatting to a guy who works for one of our suppliers, and it was only a man named Les Carter who used to play for City- albeit briefly back in the not so glorious era of the club in 82. Had a good chat about his time at Palace before under Terry venables, then his brief stint at CIty - he was saying (what we now know), that the club was in financial meltdown due to the contracts of players like Gerry Gow etc, and how the club were forced to paly a lot f youngsters like himself, and they really were'nt ready or equipped to handle the pressure and situation they were in, and the playing staff was continually changing. He wasn't a fan of Roy Hodgson as a manager either. He left City to move to Australia to play for Adelaide City, but in his second season got a career ending knee injury (something he said today would probably only be 6 weeks on the sidelines...) A really nice bloke - small world..
Interesting stuff to hear about someone who 99% of us won't remember - I love hearing about things like this He played 16 times for us https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Carter_(footballer)
