Do you agree with Leroy- 10 million for a un-proven championship striker could be the best 10 million or the worst. It won't have gone unnoticed elsewhere that Matty Taylor already has 14 goals this season and it is inevitable that he will become a potential January transfer window target for several clubs. There is nothing Bristol Rovers can do to stop that, but, for me, the bidding has to start at £10million. I know people will laugh at that suggestion, but what is so funny about that? Taylor has scored over 60 goals in less than two-and-a-half seasons and has transcended the level when asked to step in class. They said he wouldn't score in League Two. He scored 28 times. They said he wouldn't score in League One. He's already halfway to 30. I'm going to stick my neck out and predict he would score in the Championship. Strikers who can do that do not come cheap. We've seen Ross McCormack and Jonathan Kodjia move between Championship clubs in deals worth well over £10million. I can't see why any Championship club would feel that they could pinch the second-top scorer in League One away for peanuts. Rovers of course have Championship ambitions of their own and hanging on to their prized playing asset could be pivotal in whether or not they maintain their challenge across the duration of the campaign. Nobody is saying that Rovers are a one-man team but Taylor's goals – and those the rest of the strikers are scoring – are particular pertinent at a time when the team seem to be suffering a crisis of confidence going the other way.
