seems a good move if true what people think of clarke ? signs 18 month contract before game today by god we need him
Well with Benson going we need a replacement Clarke is a big forward we can bring on if need a goal to rough up the opposition would be ok with him as back up...
i think the plan is use clarke as partner to bwp makes sence takes presure of bwp good signing doing well at chesterfield
Only problem is he has a long history of falling out with managers. I don't know if he is the right guy to have sitting on the bench or playing in the reserves and, despite Acworth's helpful suggestion, I can't see him replacing Kermorgant as BWP's partner or CP playing all three at the same time. Started well as a youngster at Wolves but failed to nail down a place under McCarthy. Sold to Sheff Wed for a sizable fee at 22 but soon sent out on successive loans. Patchy record for three years then, if you remember, he was the twit who broke his foot kicking an advertising board celebrating a goal in their relegation match against Palace. They only drew, went down, and he was not re-signed. Only lasted a year at QPR under Warnock. Dropped from Premiership to League Two to sign for Swindon (strange?). Almost immediately got into a physical tussle with the Swindon staff and was shipped out to Chesterfield where he has done great. Hardly a solid citizen but maybe CP can get the best out of him. Maybe CP is a better man manager than McCarthy, Laws or Warnock? But I think he is a player who needs to be playing. I can't see him meekly sitting on the bench like the other Leon.
Mate of mine is a Chesterfield fan - says he did OK early doors in the season, but off the boil towards the latter end of his stint their. Saying that, they were playing better than they are now when he was scoring, so it looks as though if he gets the service he can score. Not a bad back up for what we have got, but not starting material for me.
Jee's I wish I could spell, or better still have the patience to read through posts before hitting the send button - "their" obviously should be "there". Just in case the spelling police were in town!!!
been busy with baby jake forgot i had that i reopen one put any news stories in their but why not play all 3 together go 4-3--3
So we're swapping a proven goalscorer who has a good attitude towards not playing with a player whose goalscoring record is worse than 1 in 4, has a terrible attitude and had a bust up with his manager because he didn't want to have to go running in training the next day. Great.
i dont think u can blame clarke for that bust up with di canio from what i seen on tv it looked like di canio started the bust up with clarke dont know full story but from reports and tv footage thats what it looked like to me di canio aparantly does this alot at swindon to players why are on a run as the players are scared ****less to lose in case have a bust up with di canio
i think clarke was just standing up for himself to di canio bad mood swings anyone i think done the same
Acworth, if you watch the video you'll hear that Leon Clarke said 'You telling me we're f*cking running again tomorrow?!!' or something along those lines. I'm not concerned with the 'bust-up' itself, simply that his attitude and laziness stinks. Not to mention that he won't get into our first team, and so the chances are he'll throw a mood swing which could drag down the morale within the club.
yes im aware could be a problem but if cp thinks he can handle him im not to bothered i think clarke has a point to prove and i think he could be a big hit down at the valley if he pulls his weight and gets stuck in he might work harder with a black manager like cp in charge what u lot reckon
I hope we are long past the days in football where players are only go to do their best for a manager of a certain skin colour, whether black or white. I am sure CP wouldn't appreciate a player telling him that. No-one except Acworth has suggested that Clarke takes this attitude so I presume it is just another brainless comment from JA.
