I don't think there is much doubt about what Leon brought to the team after Monks departure .
I think we would have been relegated for sure this season without his imput , not to say we still can't get relegated .
Each year at his age though brings an increase in decreased ability for athletes in general .
Can we count on another season from our little big man ?
As much as I love him , his ability can't go on forever ......unlike his legendary status

.....it all depends on what type of football we want to play next season.

We should not be looking to using leon tbh, We need much younger quality players throughout the squad if we are to progress but knowing us we will still be relying on players like Leon when they qualify for their Bus pass...<laugh>

That is basically what has happened this season. Apart from Ayew (who I don't think has been a great success) our summer signings last year have been a disaster. We were still using the same squad as the previous season and it definitely shows. As a result, provided we don't get relegated, we have got to play "catch up" and give the squad a massive shake up - something I never like seeing happen.

Nevertheless, it gives us an opportunity to redefine our identity as a passing football club. Whether we grasp that opportunity is another matter.

To right he will be used next year, week in week out he is one of our best players. He may not start as much as he has done the second half of the season. But he still has something to offer us and will be used.

Hopefully, this season has been a massive wake-up call for the Board and they will have learnt from it.

Continue "drifting" as we are, and we will be in another relegation scrap.

Forget about buying (and extending) the stadium - invest in the playing squad and appoint the "right" Manager <cheers>

And that tells a story and our major problem that Leon is one of our best players. Lets be honest here Leon however good he has been would not get into the vast majority of premiership sides, Lets not kid ourselves about that....

Leon could have a bus pass now and he's still better than the majority of our players.
He's also STILL the best player in the league at what he does. If we sign Joe in the summer, we can get another two seasons out of Leon if we manage him right and play the Swansea way.

A few seasons back , there was a poll of who Premier League managers thought were the best midfielders in the League .... Britton finished 3rd I think and he's playing just as well now as he was then ....just saying .....I know he's not getting any younger
This is more in line to my thinking , we may not be right valley but we could be right ....2 seasons if we're careful with him

We never saw one premiership club seriously making any bid for leon however much he put off committing himself to the club so lets not get carried away making Leon the best midfielder in the premiership because he is plainly not......He is one of the best we have and that is shocking and tells you exactly how good the team is overall.....

Well its true in it. If all we can do is keep playing players past their best then there is only one direction we will be going. I know its the cheapest option but if we are serious about remaining in the top flight then we need much younger players better than leon is today....

Come on valley your clutching at straws now...If leon is the best there is then god help us thats all i have to say......This season is proof our players are not good enough and to use them again is asking for trouble........Replacements are needed for Leon,Rangal, Dyer, Gomis, Taylor Ayew, Emnes. Bray,Lucus and a few more.

I've given this some serious thought Valley and I've come to the conclusion " There's only one Leon Britton " .
Quick guestioning valley , have you seen Leon play much better in the past as he is right now?

I haven't seen anything from him this year that suggests he's declined at all.
