Sky has us in a race to sign Leon Best from Blackburn after his falling out with the boss. The current teams in for him include Crystal Palace. After losing out on Tom Ince to a financial powerhouse like Monaco, are we better placed snatch this one up? And do we want him?

(My personal feeling is that he's pretty useful and we need something in the firepower department).

Don't know enough about him to comment on whether he would be useful to us.
I'm uninformed but my instinct is that this wouldn't be a good move.
He's 27 and played the vast majority of his football at a lower level where he doesn't have a good goal scoring record.

Interesting that he was part of the Southampton youth team that reached the final of the F.A. Youth cup 2004-5 though.
That team contained our own Nathan Dyer as well as; David McGoldrick, Adam Lallana, Theo Walcott and Gareth Bale.
Quite a crop that. (however, Best and McGoldrick belong in the Championship IMO)

Best is a tidy player....In the lower leagues, I dont think he has what it takes to be any service for us in the premiership though. He has been around the block for a long time now and would have made his mark in the premiership by now.....A good lower league player all the same that if we do go down maybe worth a look then...
