Leon Best and shame on most of you!

This is my opinion on Leon Best even before the West Ham game!

I love how 85% of people now think he's good and don't slate him even a fraction as much as they did after witnessing just a handful of CCC games last season. Just proves that some people on here haven't got a clue about football.

Last season in the CCC he was OK and in pre-season he was performing well and seemed to have created a bond with the team. It has come to no suprise to me that he has been, dare I say it, a revelation since getting a decent crack at the first-team.

Unfortunately for him, my opinion is still the same, we obviously need to sign a better striker, if not two but would definately keep him on the books now for next season and use him for cover but I do think he's progressing every game at the moment and wouldn't rule out him playing alongside our "new" striker next season.

I used to think he was poor but he's now one of my favourite players. I'm sorry Leon.

I never actually had any opinion on him before the West Ham game.
I was just a little bit wary since he was never proven at this level.

Glad he's settling in nicely, he's turning into quite the player. I'd like to keep him as a regular for next season, but yeah definitely not our first choice striker.
May long he continue to prove many others wrong!

 

I made an article before the West Ham game with similar views to yours, this was on bbc606. I got absolutely slated but boy did I love the hat trick against West Ham after that!

 

Hopefully he keeps what hes doing up (part from the constant offsides). Still need a couple of strikers bought, in the summer though.

So the point of this thread is what? To show that you know everything? To make us look bad? He's proved us wrong and that's great, but we were never going to be optimistic about a guy who had made next to no appearances for us in the Premiership and had scored no goals for us.

 

That's where my quote about Best was posted mate, had to go over to the dark side to get the quote and paste it over ... glad to be back, it's like ghost town over there!

 

The point of this thread was to show my annoyance with "some" Newcastle fans who slate our players before they are even given a chance because if Best is anything, he's proof that CCC players can step up to the plate in the EPL when needed. Although many seemed oblivious to this in Best's case.

No one actually knew how good Best was but because he didn't score for us in the CCC most just assumed he'd be hopeless in the EPL. You could see he had something there last season, Plymouth game to note. He had a good game down there and was unlucky to not score. For the fans who bother to show for friendlies would have seen him doing extremely well, albeit against lower quality opposition, you could see the bond he'd formed with the team. YET STILL people slated him, up until January and the West Ham game.

 

What do you want, a medal?

I've always defended Leon Best.
I've seen him play for Ireland before he joined Newcastle and knew he would eventually pay off.

I'm probably casually checking on here for another hour or so anyway. Watching crap tv and have just ordered chips and a chocolate ice cream from a local takeaway, so bed aint beckoning yet! My eyes are hurting though and I have no idea where my glasses are so who knows.
