Neil Lennon just interviewed by RTE on his way to Croke Park for the All Ireland Final. He got accosted by a group of Donegal fans and dragged into one of the houses near the ground. Looks to be having a lovely day. Lennon recaalled his many happy days playing for Armagh at the home of Gaelic games. He is tipping Donegal. He had the Donegal manager Jim McGuinness over at a Celtic match. Should any of you Scotch people want to see this magnificent sporting occasion, it will be on BBC Narnia from 15:15.
Video of Lenny. http://www.joe.ie/gaa/gaa-news/watc...-by-donegal-fans-and-taken-to-a-pub-0028630-1 He was right about the first 20 minutes.
This was possibly the only weekend ever that I was beeling at not getting BBC2NI on my Virgin EPG. No great affection for either county - just love the football.
I was chatting to a guy this morning who met Lenny at the game. Said he was a very nice man. A very very nice man.
I watched some of it and I have to say ... What a rubbish sport! What is it, football, rugby or basketball! Far to easy to score points! No offence to the GAA supporters!
That is the power of an independent lobby group right there. The unseen Fenian hand slaps the face of the corporate big wigs once again. Did you not enjoy it then? A better occasion than a match I guess.
Not so. Try it and you would he surprised, especially with a fella with arms the size of treetrunks trying to wrest the ball of you.
Hurling wont be on the Beeb. Rte only unfortunately. They showed a clip on the bbc in a quiz of a young flame haired kid from Armagh knocking over a lovely point. They called him Niall Linehan..... If that was the pinnacle of his sporting career he'd be mightily pissed off. Luckily he went on to manage Sellick.
Neil Lennon was hijacked by a group of Celtic supporters before the match yesterday. These fans spend 24 hours and more travelling to a Celtic match, I was happy to be with them yesterday for a time too. Management of GAA teams travel sometimes to some EPL outfits as well and as Neil says exchange their views retraining etc. No invite has yet to come from Murray Park and none is expected funny enough. It was amazing to be a crowd in excess of 82,000 fans all mixed though each others. Fans of either sitting shoulder to shoulder watching probably the fittest men in these islands giving their best all for the love and glory. No money, no agents, no transfers a sport with hurling that every man with a drop of Irish blood in them should be truly proud.
Lennon will be back in Ireland on Friday to be a part of yet another Irish institution as he gets to take his seat on the Late Late Show.
I hope Neil doesn't annoy some of our Scottish fans with the amount of time he spends in Ireland. Neil knows that he will always be welcomed amongst some of the greatest Celtic supporters in the world.
Lennon is a great ambassador for the club. Tubridy is a cock.
