Battle of the RWs http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/compare-lfc-and-spurs-opta-stats Select Sterling and Lennon to view all opta stats, they are staggeringly similar, apart from the fact Lennon is 8 years older!!!
Solid player that Walker, not as good going forward as Johnson though. Sterling will be a better player than Lennon imo, not much between them now imo.
so a 17 year old who's not exaclty contributing all he can yet is the same as lennon... big deal! I honeslty think this is pointless comparison as it neglects all the other factors that influence things.
The stats are quite interesting. Only Suarez (35) and Sterling (22?) are anywhere near Gerrard (36) for chances created. This sort of undermines the idea that Gerrard is playing poorly. Either that or it says that, although he might be playing badly, he can still contribute more than most when he's below par! Skrtel and Agger are very close in their stats, with Skrtel possibly edging it. Agger doesn't apear to tackle that much -- presumably because he stands off and awaits a mistake. Whereas, on the other hand, Skrtel's tackling record is very good. They complement each other perfectly, and compare very favourably to the Spurs CB's. On paper we should have this. Unfortunately, we don't play on paper and these stat's are only averages. I expect Spurs to be a much harder nut to crack on the day. I've predicted a loss, but I really hope I'm massively wrong!
I don't think anyone is questioning his attacking help. It's just he as become very lazy defensively. He gives the balls away and then when everyone else is busting a nut to get back, he slowly walks back.
I think Rodgers knew the general rule of thumb when looking at players: 'If pool are interested, Spurs will become interested!' So he went for two players, one who is getting on a bit and the other not as good as what we have got, then let Spurs work their magic.... Good skills Rodgers!
This is it in a nut shell. Still offers quality space finding balls from deep or clever give and gos in advanced positions. But if he loses it, he stops and watches.
