    Just read this .....

MIKELE Leigertwood has revealed Neil Warnock effectively called time on his QPR career last October when he openly suggested fans had wrecked his confidence. But the midfielder, who switched to Reading on loan soon after, insists there are no regrets, even though he has now missed out on a return to top flight football after Monday's Championship play-off final.

Leigertwood, who has just made his move to The Madejski Stadium permanent, cut a despondent figure as he sloped off the Wembley pitch at the end of a pulsating game.

A 4-2 defeat at the hands of Swansea City means he will not be joining his old mates from west London in the Premier League next season - a division he played in while at Sheffield United four years ago.

"It's a low point," said Leigertwood, who ironically may be in line for a Championship winners medal after making 10 appearances for QPR this season.

"I'm obviously disappointed not to go up, It's hard to take. But I'm still proud to be part of this team and part of this squad.

"I've got no problem with QPR. The fans have always been good to me there. They are always going to be disappointed if you misplace a pass now and again, but it doesn't help when the manager highlights that and says you have lost confidence.

"The manager called it as he sees it, that's fair enough. But he also made it clear I didn't have a future there, so there was no point in staying.

"I'm not going to sit around on the bench or not even travel to games and I made the decision to come and play games. I'm at a very good team.

"I've got no points to prove to anybody. I'm happy with how my career's going and how things have turned out, even though we have missed out on going up...."

Such injustice... you misplace a pass now and again and you end up at Hoops 2 ! Just not right is it?

Good luck to him. Hope Reading go up next year as they are a good side, Reading is quite close and I went to Reading University.

"NOW AND AGAIN"!! :cheesy::cheesy: Either Legs is trying to play up his passing abilities or he is the most deluded man on the planet. Either way, good riddance.

Thought that after his good performances for Reading he might come back. Always liked him and good luck to him.

He was a good signing when he first came.

His move to Reading was best for both player and club at the time as his form was gone and no sign of recovering it.

Showed no consistency Scotland, certainly not Premier League quality. Had some shot on him though.

That performance he put in as sub for Buz against Norwich had me wanting to rip off my own head rather than watch another 5 yard pass go straight to a yellow jersey. Truly comical.

Saying that, I wish him all the best at Reading. He's done really well there, and I hope they get the job done next season.

How does that work, legs is no longer a QPR player, so why would he even want it?

Ten appearances for Championship winners = Winners medal.

Like you said though, cant see Legs wanting it.

I understand the maths, I just don't understand the ruling, surely if a player leaves, he leaves behind his entitlements too?

Makes sense, but i think if a guy plays 30 odd games, scores 20 odd goals and gets sold in Feb/March, then i think that is fair that if his old team wins the league then he should get a medal.

Saying that, 10 odd appearances most as sub shouldn't entitle Legs to a medal but thems the rules!

I liked Legs when we were ****. In a team that often lacked heart and quality of any sort he would provide both and scored some cracking goals which made up for the flaws in his game. As the team improved he unfortunately got left behind and wasn't playing frequently. You could see he's the sort that can't come in every now and again and play well, he needs a run of games and has done well at Reading because he got one. Good luck to the bloke, he certainly provided more good memories than bad which is more than can be said for many players over the last few years.

Was anyone else at Colchester midweek for Mick Harford's first game? We lost 4-2 and Legs was at centre-half and had an absolute mare (including an own goal I think). It was Vine's debut and he looked class.

And who can forget his goals at home to Stoke when they were at/near the top of the league (live on sky too) and a cracking goal out of nowhere to equalise at Leicester. The more I think about it, as much as he was poor towards the end he really wasn't a bad player.

Most of us feel rate legs as a decent player, but we can all recount games that he has played badly in, yes he was good for us at times, and he defo did a job for us too, but the time was right for him to be let go.

He was a reasonable player for us but although he showed some moments of brilliance and put in a few inspiring performances, he never could keep his performances consistent. Hope he does well for the plastic hoops though.
