For me, it has to be Paul Konchesky. Always worked hard for every ball, was in acres of space ALL off the time (at on point had literally half the pitch to himself) always pushed forward on the attack and was seen in a more advanced postition to David Nugent. Anyone think anyone differant?
I thought Konchesky played well but I'd have to say Nugent, took his goal really well and caused their defence problems all night with his workrate and movement.
I think any one of many players could have got it. Personally I'd say Johnson because of the way he used the ball and dictated our play and everything that was good usually involved him. What was more impressive for me though, rather than individuals playing well, is that no-one in the team had a bad game and that is generally what I look for most because then, I feel, you know that you've played well.
Hope we can repeat the same this weekend, should take us into the play-offs. How did SStL perform last night?
SSL was steady. Didn't have much to do though but he and Bamba dealt with the potentially difficult threat of Iwelumo reasonably well - his one chance apart. The one thing that could have threatened their partnership was a lack of understanding (especially as Bamba isn't the easiest to play with at times) but they did seem to have a good understanding. The real test for him will come at Upton Park though. If he does well there, I think he might keep his place.
It's a big 'if' though... a lack of glaring errors was certainly noticeable yesterday though, which can only be an improvement. He's slowly going up in my estimation, and I think Mills' suspension, weirdly, may do more good than harm if it can spawn a confident and strong-performing St. Ledger.
Oh, and just to add to the list of MOTM performances, I'd go with Peltier. He's consistently put shifts in since the start of the season, has hardly put a foot wrong, and generally links up well with the midfield going forward. He showed all of the above skills again yesterday, and looks to be Sven's signing of the season so far, for me.
Agree Konch was good, I thought he did well against Brum, he chipped some nice balls into Nugent at St Andrews. Nugent by far the best player closely followed by Johnson.
Konch had his usual 7/10 for me. Neither good nor bad. Beckford, Nugent, Johnson, Wellens and Schmeichel get 8's. King, Bamba, SSL and Pelts get 7's Abe gets a 6.
