MATCH PREVIEW: LEICESTER CITY V QPR
THE curtain comes down on the Premier League this weekend, with QPR’s final game of the season taking place at Leicester City.

When the fixtures were released at the start of the campaign, a number of people saw this game as a potential survival and relegation decider. Sadly for Rangers, that’s not the case. QPR’s demotion was confirmed a fortnight ago at Manchester City, while the Foxes have produced a sensational finish to their season to secure survival with games to spare.

Nigel Pearson’s side – who comfortably won the Championship last term – spent much of this campaign entrenched in the bottom three.

Nine weeks ago, Leicester suffered a 4-3 defeat at Tottenham, a result which left them SEVEN points adrift of safety with nine games remaining. Few gave them any hope of pulling off the greatest of great escapes. But that’s what they have achieved, winning a startling six games from seven.

Last weekend’s 0-0 draw at Sunderland secured their place in the Premier League for next season, and on Sunday afternoon they will be looking to wrap up their campaign in style.

QPR Head Coach confirmed he will hand a first start to 18-year-old striker Reece Grego-Cox whilst goalkeeper Robert Green (concussion) and defender Steven Caulker (hand) are both unavailable.

Leicester City striker David Nugent (calf) will be unavailable for the hosts.

    Jamie VARDY (Striker)

Jamie Vardy joined Leicester City from Fleetwood Town in the summer of 2012. Having spent his career playing non-league football following his release from Sheffield Wednesday as a 16 year-old, Vardy’s 34 goals in his debut season with Fleetwood attracted the attentions of the Foxes, who he joined for a reported £1million.

Last season he was an integral part of Leicester’s Championship-winning side, scoring 16 times to underline his ability as a goalscorer.

While he hasn’t been as prolific this term in the Premier League – he has netted four times so far – he has come up with goals at crucial times, ultimately helping to steer Nigel Pearson’s men to safety.

He scored in the 90th minute to secure a 3-2 win at West Brom on 11th April, and followed that up two weeks later with the only goal of the game in a relegation six-pointer against Burnley.

Vardy’s energetic and all-action performances have made him a real favourite amongst the Foxes fans, as well as a nuisance for opposition defenders.

His form at the end of the season saw him - along with QPR's Charlie Austin - called up to the England squad for the first time for matches against the Republic of Ireland and Slovenia in June.

Leicester City defender, Robert Huth: "We are professional footballers for a reason and we take every game seriously with the right attitude.

"I know we’re safe but when we step over the white line on Sunday it’ll bring that competitiveness back."

QPR Head Coach, Chris Ramsey: "“I’m hoping there are going to be some youngsters will be involved at some stage.

"But whoever takes the field has to be worthy of putting a QPR shirt on and carrying out the task for the club."

I'm at this game today and just about to leave the hotel to meet up with Stan for a light ale in the city centre. You'll never guess who was staying in my hotel? Yep the mighty R's squad.

I've the pleasure of taking my 10year old grandson to watch palace v Swansea, he's a season ticket holder as well as his dad but he's gone to festival today, I'll show some enthusiasm as he wanted me to take him.

Nice one Nines - I hope with you in attendance that we can say farewell to the Premier League on a winning note and rain on their parade.

If they are prepared to put the effort in, that team should be more than capable of getting the job done and also give a few youngsters a taste of the Premier League, to whet their appetites for future promotion.

Leicester squad could earn £1m bonus if they beat QPR on final day... but Nigel Pearson says money is not a motivator
    • The Leicester squad will be due a £1million bonus if they finish 14th
    • Nigel Pearson insists it won't be money that motivates his players though
    • The squad already earned a £5m pot after securing top flight survival

Ramsey was spotted while working in a restaurant on Sunset Boulevard and got an audition the next day,[1] for a role she won - The Real Cancun, a documentary that revolves around the true exploits of several American youths in Mexico

Today the TV coverage here includes Hull v Man Utd, but oddly not Newcastle v West Ham, the only other game that matters as far as relegation is concerned - not surprisingly our match is not covered, so I'll have to rely on a stream if I want to catch the action.

Butter fingers - he's been watching too many Rob Green highlights.

    GOAL
Leicester 1-0 QPR - Jamie Vardy (16 mins)

England's newest strike sensation Jamie Vardy bags another. And they don't come much easier. Goalkeeper Alex McCarthy spills a Riyad Mahrez shot straight back at Vardy's feet and it is a tap-in.
