The Foxes squad negotiated a bonus structure at the start of the season and they have already earned a £5m pot after securing survival against relegation to the Championship last weekend. The extra cash from the club’s Thai owners will arrive should they secure 14th place in the Premier League, the spot they are currently in, but Pearson insists his side are playing for far bigger factors. please log in to view this image Nige Pearson says his players are not motivated by bonus, but his squad will earn extra £1m if they finish 14th ‘We have to be careful when we talks about bonuses,’ he said. ‘Any bonus scheme going to be paid to players is agreed before the season starts. ‘We have owners who are very generous but anything bonus related is already set aside and nothing else needs to be spoken about. ‘I find it a bit distasteful. Different things motivate different people but it's a bit of a cheap shot when stories are surfacing about how much Premier League survival is worth. ‘In my experience of working with players that maybe somewhere in their minds. ‘But I don't at all feel like I've been working with a group of mercenaries. I don't know what it is to be honest with you!’. Pearson has endured a tough season but appears more relaxed now safety has been confirmed, not that he has celebrated it. ‘Last week I did not quite know how to feel,’ he said. ‘I was relieved but I find it difficult to enjoy it for what it is as I’m always moving on.
