Aye. Say what you like about Fat Mike, at least he's leading a one man crusade against fee inflation. Except when it came to selling Sissoko of course
Exactly. We are seeing with Zoet, the same thing as with Samaris. The price keeps getting hiked by the day depending on who is interested. Rafa may be fuming we missed out on a few but I'd be fuming if we got 'Andy Carrolled' by clubs mugging us off to be honest.
In fairness Benitez will only feel vindicated either way. If its a sign of the times they should have paid the 30 mill in January for him and McCarthy. If its because he's deserving of the fee then we should have bought him in January WE SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT HIM IN ****ING JANUARY
Basically, I don't think we had any cash in January. Cash flow issues like this summer. I don't think Benitez will be under any illusions now - Mike Ashley is not going to put any money into the club for transfers.
Mike confirmed in his interview he wouldn't be putting cash in. He reaffirmed that Rafa can have every penny in profit.
A year in the Championship despite parachute payments has big impacts on a clubs revenue, TV rights for the Championship I think are in the order of £195 million for three years, Premier League rights are £5.1 billion over Three years, my understanding is that any profit from player trading was wiped out by this revenue impact, Ashley is still a dick though as despite his claims to cash poverty if he really wanted to find £100 million he could do so easily enough he just doesn't want to.
Even if it hadn't been wiped out, people were claiming a '£30m profit' last summer however it was common knowledge that the £30m from Sissoko was to be paid at £6m per year over 5 years. You have to wonder if Spurs sell him that the balance will be payable in full?
A joke though, we could attain a bit more money just by the extra shirt sponsorship, yet we refuse to bother even chasing it. I'm getting a ****ty feeling that its guna be an underwhelming end to this window, everything about Mike Ashley's history suggests it
Our deal at £6.5 million is better than 11 other PL clubs, can't see us doing anything like the top 6 deals so not much traction on this.
I'm referring to the extra shirt logo you can have this season. Its extra revenue that's piss easy to make. As you know, Newcastle have no qualms about what sponsors adorn their shirts. And don't even get me started on the good old free SD advertising.
If you mean Sleeve Sponsor then say it, it is reckoned at 20% of main shirt sponsor so an additional £1.2 million.
