I listed to Five Live on the way home from the game last night and most of the Forest fans were sending in McLaren Out texts. Calling for the managers head after one or two poor results is complete nonsense, but it seems to be the norm nowadays.
I think football is such a high profile game, that the fans don't want success, they demand it and they're also very impatient with it. Yes I want success for Hull but if we'd lost yesterday I wouldn't be calling for our managers head. As I said elsewhere this is a marathon not a sprint in terms of the season
Leicester will flirt with relegation this year. Their set up is all wrong. THey are bringing in mercernaries like Danns. They are not bringing in players who complement each other. Same as they did when Mandaric was first there, look what happened that season, all the fans thought they would walk it and they ended up getting relegated.
I posted these quotes as they're related to Nigel Pearson & Neil Danns who was a target for us. There's a difference between "healthy interest" and obsession.. Leicester are rightly going to be watched closely, more by their own supporters than ours but they will show us how effectively success can be bought. If you look at Chelsea it took a few seasons, even for Man City to be even serious contenders in the PL it has taken them a while plus several managers, Sven himself, Hughes, Mancini.. The point is, Sven even given the best players (Roma, Man City, England) has rarely delivered the football the fans want. His only real successes have been Goteborg, Benfica & Lazio.. Nearly every time his success comes with money - at Lazio he was bankrolled by Sergio Cragnotti's investment in the team – some £274 million in over 4 seasons, this tells me that he is massively over-rated as a manager and I doubt very much how adept he is with tactics & motivation. With England he had the best players in the country, he failed at Mexico too, and they have amazing players.. A great manger would use the players he has, add a few select more and win the league.
Why is everyone so derogatory about Spend Goran Erickson........................................then again why not! he is as media hungry as Hollywood Brown.
