"Just wait until Vardy or Mahrez get injured ..." ... is becoming the latest mantra of the many who begrudge us any credit for where we are now ... Good article below that puts things firmly in perspective as far as I'm concerned (although I didn't write it ) .. http://www.squawka.com/news/eight-stats-that-show-leicester-are-more-than-just-vardy-mahrez/526769
It make me laugh when people put things like this up. Yes they are the 2 getting the goals but Kante, Drinkwater and Albrighton have all been superb all season Hopefully now Ulloa has got a goal he can join the party. Inler and Kramaric will get their chance over the next month or so. So its up to them to take it
Leicester are playing Reading now. Its currently 2-0 to us with Nathan Dyer and Jak McCourt scoring Yohan Benalouane and Andrej Kramaric are also playing along with some trialists
I think Fuchs has done well since he got into the team aswell. To be fair though if they did get injured we wouldn´t be as good as we are now, but we´d still be good enough to hold our own.
Jose Mourinho on Jamie Vardy I don't want to anaylse the boy because if I do he will get my words and you will put them into different a perspective about wanting to sign him and I don't want to sign," he said. "But a super striker like Ruud van Nistelrooy did something historical in the Premier League and Vardy has the chance to go over it." Arsene Wenger on Jamie Vardy "Is it is not a miracle, it's a consequence of his quality."
I said this in another thread, you can't be top with a 2 man team, some of the games, Vardy or Mahrez have worked some magic to get us points (Spurs at home for example). Mahrez hasn't even played every game, or has been subbed on or off at half time during some of them. I recon we would still be in a fairly good position (not as high obviously!) even if we didn't have these 2 playing. Ive not really seen many "poor" performances from any of our players this year and the improvement from DD, Albrighton, Schlupp from last year is clearly visible.
At the start of the season everyone had us as certain for relegation as we were only saved last year by Cambiasso, thus implying we were a one man team. I'll not pretend we weren't worried after he didn't stay but as it goes the midfield is doing just fine. (Drinkwater was clearly making more notes than we thought when training with Cambiasso). All teams have important players who are a great loss if injured, all we can hope is some one who hasn't been playing as much yet steps up. It's not like our bench doesn't have quality options these days. If we get really stuck for goals is that lad Prochwitz still available
Could have sworn we started 11 men at Newcastle. Oh well people are really trying to save face having predicted us to be 90 points below Bournemouth by now!
And Man City are not as good without Aguero and Company, etc etc We play our best 11 each week and we are riding very high. Nobody can believe we are top, especially all the tabloids who will revel in our downslide (if it happens) Keep going lads, may the surprises keep coming
It must be a fun ride for you fellas, the nay sayers are out in force now and it'll get worse. If you drop down the league you'll have to deal with the smug "I told you so" from the all knowing football fan.
... my thoughts too .. take 2 key players out of any side and. It will be weaker .. but it won't just crumble if that team has been at the top of its game..
I think its the most obvious thing that will happen, even Lawro could predict that! I don't think theres a pundit brave enough to say that we'll finish in the top 4 or even europa league, and for good reason, we won't. I'd rather we didn't get into the europa league, it really doesn't work out well for teams trying to establish themselves as Premier League regulars. Midtable finish and safe from relegation by the end of January will do me more than fine
