"We had Guppy, Impey, Heskey, Lennon in my Leicester side. We finished seventh in the Premier League and won a trophy.

"I think the Premier League was stronger in my day, and my Leicester team was slightly better than the current one. But let's see where these finish at the end of the season."

.. Cloud cookoo land Robbie <laugh> ... always amuses me when he claims to have been a key part of our marvellous midfield ... when, in reality, his role was more used as squad cover ... Lennon, Izzet, Parker, Guppy, Eadie, Impey, Zagorakis, Gunnlaugson ... all better in reality ... we had nothing like the quality we now have on the bench ... N'Golo Kante or Robbie? ... sorry Robbie...

Hard to compare the 2, but the games fitness as certainly evolved.

If you put both 11 together in a match in their "prime", would the current team win?

They were fantastic times for LCFC & RS was a hard working player. But to say they were better ???.
One thing is for sure Robbie, LCFC are where they should be & as much as I loved those MO`N days with players like Flowers, Savage, Sinclair, Elliot, Taggart, Izzet, Lennon, Heskey, Cottee, Oakes, Impey, Gilchrist, Guppy, Marshall (who all won the 2000 Worthingtons cup) & the likes of Keller & Walsh aswell, this new crop of LCFC players are on a par atleast & we have the money & the ambition to go even further. I´m thinking europe season in season out atleast.

The simple fact that Stefan Oakes is even mentioned in a comparison shows how ******ed this point of view is. Inler or Oakes? Oakes vanished off the face of the earth after he left us. Inler is an international captain.

Both good teams that allowed us to hold our heads up high. But MON won trouphies and always finished in the top ten and I agree the league was harder then. Still this squad may surpass that and let's hope so. Bl'army.

Of the old team the only ones I would want would be Elliott, Lennon, Izzet, Taggart, Guppy and Heskey.

How about **** you pen-is. I was putting down the whole of the cup winning team in respect to what they won on that day & Oakes was apart of it so why leave him out ? & who the **** compared him to Inler ? The original thread says 1999-2000 brainless.

Maybe, but the teams then I would say we're much bigger and stronger in my opinion.

Alan Birchenall thinks this team is better from his interview on the radio

However in the past he said in a football magazine one of the people he'd like to meet was Hitler!

Savage only said this because he felt insecure about John Terry's comments.

This side is a lot better, it just doesn't have the trophies or top 10 finishes to back it up but they will come in time.
