http://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/article/parkes-322698.aspx? Bit of a surprise - I knew he was down the pecking order a bit, but it leaves us with a further depleted squad - makes me think someone else is coming in
Surpised he left us, that's another CB down. Only have Morgan, Moore and Bolger fit and only one is over 21.
Parkes has been on the fringes for years but never made the step. Now with Liam Moore making the step up the writing was on the wall for Parkes. Once St. Ledger and Whitbread return Parkes wouldnt of even got a sniff of the bench Probably best for him to go down the ladder and try and work his way back up. I think Cian Bolger will be the next out and maybe a loan move for Panayioutou. Of the academy players i can only see Liam Moore, Jeff Schlupp and Harry Panayioutou making the step up
No point having a really big squad with players not even going to get a chance to watch the game for free from the bench. Maybe NP has his eye on a new player or 2 & wants to trim the squad down by getting rid of the deadwoods before replacing them with better quality.
Looked a good prospect a few years ago, and he's still just 20, but had an unfortunate ankle break which looked to slow his progress. Can't quite believe we'd let go of a centre half at this point in time, so I'm also assuming Nigel has a trick up his sleeve.
Yeah I agree Danger, a bit of a surprise, particularly with the timing. If Moore gets injured we're in trouble. That said, if you're not good enough, you're not good enough and having Parkes may actually prevent us from signing an emergency loan player when the loan window closes. If Nige can't see himself ever picking him, he needs to move him on. I just thought, with him being played against Sunderland etc, he might get his break soon.
With SSL ahead of schedule for his return, and ZW 1-2 weeks away, not too surprised. Good luck to the lad.
