    I simply cringe when I read anything about SBR... getting sacked for finishing 5th?

    Pardew's best ever finish was 5th!

    How tragic the whole episode was, on reflection. :(

    Agreed.
    We enjoyed the relative success back then but with it came FFS and the hire/fire mentality.
    For all his negatives, Fat Mike at least tries to put in place a plan (with Pardew) for long term stability.
    Even if it blows up in his fat face.
