might not need to strengthening we all thought it did.

I dont really want to judge Colback an Mcclean from one game, but based on todays performance I think our left side is now looking quite strong.

Richardson and Colback can do a damn good job at LB, Bardo as well.

Mcclean, Sess, Ricco and perhaps colback can all do a good job on the wing. Mcclean and Ricco being my 1st choice at the moment.

I thought Gardiner looked excellent today at right back. He got forward well and rarely wasted a ball, defended brilliantly!

Gardner was immense, it´s only the sheer magnitude of Catts display that stopped him being MOTM, he was a 9.5 all day, superb.

I still think we need a LB and a LW if not in this transfer window then the next one.

I aint a fan of playing right footers at left back because they totally unbalance the side, on the wing I think they are effective when they have an overlapping full back because they can use the natural width and go on the outside to the full back or come inside on there stronger foot and either play someone in or go for goal.

For us to improve we need a competitive squad and 2players atleast challenging for each position.

If we can find a quality left back to challenge Richardson for that spot and I hear we are going to go for Pienaar who plays on the left wing along with McLean we will have really improved the quality for that side of the pitch.

As for left back who though?

I hear Taiwo wants to leave Milan but how much will he be on a week? Would love him here after being linked with him so much in the past but cannot really think of anyone in the premier league, we would have to look abroad IMO.

Ricco and Colback are left footed, no?

And Bardo won player of the season for his performances at LB, and I dont think he unbalanced the team when doing so.

I dont think Colback would want to play there full time, he is a midfielder and it would be like Brucie, putting round pegs in square holes, it worked today but I wouldn't want to see and I am sure MoN doesn't want to see half the side played out of position

nah, same team against Wigan for me apart from Kilgallon starting as I cannot see Brown being available and should not be risked anyways after today, dont want to make things worse, there is only a 48hour gap between the two games

Must admit a was worried about Gardner against AJ but both himself & JC acquitted themselves very well.

All the lads acquitted themsleves superbly today. We need a centre forward who can constantly bang them in now. Unless Ji can kick on now

I played lb even though I was a striker.
All you have to do is cocentrate on your role. If you do that it become easy

Taiwo would be immense, if unrealistic.

I like Martin Olsson, achievable as well.

Absolutely this. Gardner was tremendous. We had 4 of our first choice back 5 out and a replacement who hasn't played in the pl for over a year.. yet we kept a clean sheet against the current best side in the land.

Thoroughly encouraging performance by the lads today and, as I quoted in Lumley sports & social before my afternoon gig, this smile is going to take a bad occurrence of some magnitude to wipe off my face.

I watched it in Banus, bar full of Mancs, then me, and a canny fella from Motherwell who was backing us.

I lierally bounced along the port after, even gave the missus a little smacker in public, haha.

Colback played as LB for Ipswich, and has previously said he is comfortable playing there.

We need players playing in there natural positions IMO, players can drop in for a few games and do well, but if we want a consistent LB/LW/RB etc we need to have players in there natural positions. Look at mcclean and the difference he made on the left, not because he is world class, but because he is a natural left winger, and he knows how to play in that position.
This was one of Bruces negative influences, playing players all over just to fill gaps, then if they have a good game saying that they coud be england new LB!

I'd like colback in midfield preferabley, either him or catts in one spot, gardener or vaughn in the other, larsson right and richo left. i would still like a proper LB, left mid i think we're okay
