I think when we sign a LB I think defense has gotta be the priority. The good going forward Cliche annoys me when it comes to full backs, there nearly always good goin forward, its like the good shot stopper when it comes to goalies, they are all good shot stoppers, I wanna keeper who can take crosses and doesnt make mistakes This may be why we havnt moved for Enrique yet,he may not be 1st choice LB, they may think he weak defensively, same could be said of Clichy, and Izaguire who ceratinly hasnt been tested properly yet at the top level I would like to see us go for Chiellini of Juventus ( use Aqua part ex ), v much in the Maldini mould ,can play CB or LB,and his strength is his defending
Look at the thread a few below this one called 'left back options' and look at Clichy's defensive stats in the link the OP provides. By far the best 'defensive' LB in the PL last season.
In case you can't find it: http://www.anfieldindex.com/2685/liverpool-fc-transfer-scouting-stats-left-backs.html
I'd have Clichy. He is a proven Premier League left-back and as the stats show, he has some good stats. The interceptions stat is impressive. 110 interceptions is pretty good. 3.2 per game. The nearest to that is Evra who has 2.5. Impressive.
Erm, how many times have you watched Enrique? He loves getting forward, can take on a full-back and has a good cross.
Lets see what happens. All we know is Kenny and DC have identified this as a key area to strengthen, and we won't have Konchesky as our only experienced left back thats for sure. He's going anyway.
