http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_7012076,00.html AT going to Cardiff. Get back on the phone to wiggins and offer him the full wage cap!
It is, since good left-sided players, let alone left-backs are very very hard to come by for a club of our limited financial clout. In other words we're ****ed and **** out of luck.
So no other club in any of the divisions beneath us or in Scotland have any left-backs? I didn't realise how much trouble we're in
It isn't a new crisis, but one we have had to get used to the last few seasons. I don't want us paying over the odds for someone or bringing in the wrong person just because we don't have a natural left-sided player. I'd say we were always 3rd choice for AT after Boro and once Malky went to Cardiff (shows he preferred Malky to the club... or the money). I'm sure we have other options we are looking at as neither were guaranteed
Hello folks. Cardiff fan in peace. Understand if us Cardiff fans are hardly your flavour of the month at the mo' seeing as how we're stealing everything, including the sofas from Vicarage Road this summer. But how the hell did you guys lose the race for Rhoys Wiggins? If it is true that is. Because the lad is a Welshie, I'd much rather see him plying his trade at a higher level with you guys.
Because it looks like he and his club are more interested in money. What seems to come out of the Wiggins lads mouth is worth as much as Brendan Rodgers integrity.
Would say it is not a crisis however we need to cast the net further to see what we can come up with! Still think we need a LB before the season starts!
I still think it was a mistake letting Harley leave. And before anyone starts, he was allowed to leave Notts County because his manager is a nutter. A talented and to an extent likeable nutter, but a nutter all the same.
Left back is a universal rather than a Watford problem. Remember picking teams in the school playground? The blind lad who couldn't run and was a bit whiffy always finished up at left back. Not absolutely sure how Paolo Maldini and Roberto Carlos fit into this theory...maybe it's an English thing
... and now someone else is saying that letting Nathan Ellington go was a mistake. What is going on at this club?
What about Jlloyd Samuel! Played in the prem, free agent and no club yet, would be worth asking. is 30 I believe. (prob out of our pay bracket but if he hasnt been offered a contract you never know)....
Oh blimey, I can see this thread has got out of control. Left Back has been a big problem at Watford since Robbo left. We've had some right donkeys like that boy May and Darlington, and anyone looking back at Travner and Jon Harley, phew it must be late. Let's stick to some facts, If Wiggins has turned us down to join Charlton then it's a pretty sad day. Charlton are a drifting 3rd level club - enough said, I presume Wiggins has joined them because they offered more money. Ditto Andrew Taylor, except that I never thought we could compete for Taylor. By the sounds of it Dyche really is scraping the barrel for this key position. If you look back at the first half of the season when Taylor and Mutch had settled in we were such a force in this division. Lloyd Doyley and J Lloyd Samuel are not left backs, they are half decent full backs "pushed into service" out of position. Sean Dyche knows that if we are to defy the odds we need to have a balanced team and to this end we need to sort out the left hand side of the team and beef up the central midfield (RJ is a nice lad, but not good enough). Don't forget we have just lost a great outlet up front as Danny Graham will be a big loss. I still maintain that Dyche needs to find 4 or 5 good players to put the team back on the front foot, I know the happy clappers "hope for better things", but honestly this squad needs strengthening.
