'We must stay positive' urges Lee Johnson in wake of heavy defeat to Brighton. please log in to view this image DEFIANT Lee Johnson insists he and his Bristol City players must remain positive in the face of trying circumstances. * I felt a couple of the performances were amateurish and that disappointed me. * It's a tough one and difficult to know which way to go. I'm quite an aggressive person sometimes and there are times you want to go for people, because they have not done enough. * I'm not frightened of confrontation and I'm passionate about the club. * But we have to make sure we stay positive and focused, because we're not in it to kill confidence and kill morale. * The fact we've had three fantastic wins on the spin cannot be forgotten, but things will not be quite so much fun from now on. * I felt a couple of the performances were amateurish and that disappointed me. * There is a right time and a wrong time to do that and, trust me, when the time is right, I will not hold back. But now is not the right time. * I don't think there was any lack of effort or desire, it was more to do with naivety and lack of savvy for the level." * We must stay consistent, keep our eyes on the prize and make sure we keep going. We have to dust ourselves off and go again. * This result was a big blip for us, but we've had some great results and we need to get back on the horse again. * I want to see players sticking to the game-plan and I don't want to see individuals sparking off and doing their own thing. * If we concede, there is no way we can capitulate and that is the key. * Bullets Points Only.. http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/BRISTOL-CITY-stay-positive-urges-Lee-Johnson-wake/story-28801965-detail/story.html

Bristol City FC @bcfctweets 8m8 minutes ago LJ: "In the Championship if you give a square ball away, there's normally a chance given away and 50% of the time you'll be punished." Bristol City FC @bcfctweets 9m9 minutes ago LJ: "A good player learns from mistakes. You can do that when you're young. It's important for your future." Bristol City FC @bcfctweets 9m9 minutes ago LJ: "I am learning about this group and I did learn a lot on Tuesday night." Bristol City FC @bcfctweets 9m9 minutes ago LJ: "We've got recruitment in the back of our minds but I do think it's important to give those players already here a chance."
Wont disagree with him if we show a marked improvement against Forest in what is already a tough game.
Early indications are that LJ's a smart young man and he's identifying the positive and negative aspects well. If I have a long-term concern it's, does he have the gravitas to get the respect a manager deserves and needs to succeed? I think with the right players he will, but he may struggle to handle any loose cannons (thankfully, we don't appear to have any currently). Obviously, his short-term remit is simply survival - next season will be his toughest test to date in management and it'll be interesting to see how he handles it.
To get to 50 points (we may of course need slightly more or less than this to stay up) we need 16 points from 13 games, that's just over a point a game. 7 games ago, we had 21 points with 20 games to go and needed 29 points from a possible 60. Almost 1.5 points per game- The prospects are much better now, but there is still work to be done- The key games will be against Bolton and Rotherham, by winning these we could pull 11 points clear of them and that would take a lot of catching up-
