Its the second round of the Capital One Cup folks <yikes>. Warnock is set to put out a completely different team that cruised put the Posh 2-1 at the weekend. That mean the fringe players like Drury, Kisnorbo, Poleon will all get a try out. The only player I would keep is Kenny for obvious reasons, ow, and maybe Diouff as he is on the road to fitness.

It should be an easy one on paper. Who would you play? Do you care about this competition? Are you going to this match?

Primarily a mixture of youth and players needing to get their fitness up.

    Kenny

    Byram Lees Kisnorbo Drury

    EHD Austin Nunez White

    Poleon Gray

Subs: McCormack, Becchio, Pearce, Norris, Pugh, Ashdown

Kept Paddy in goal as I think it is hugely important that all defenders get used to playing with him and for him to get used to them.

I would swap Paddy for Ashdown and I would give Drury and White half a game each at LB, I wouldn't risk both our natural left sided players. Pugh left midfield and Brown in place of Nunez probably give McCormack a run out alongside Gray, he keeps getting subbed a lot so would be good if he could get on the score sheet.

Give Becchio, Pearce, Peltier, Austin the day off, wouldn't even have them on the bench.

    Ashdown
    Byram Lees Kisnorbo Drury/White

    EHD Norris Brown Pugh

    McCormack Gray

    Subs Paddy, Poleon, Thompson, Varney

<yikes> Do we still have Ruchubka? Who thinks he should get a game?

Oxford are flying, very confident, will come as the underdogs to ER and will rise to the occasion. They have nothing to lose, and could easily embarass us.

We should not be so complacent in believing that a reserve team will get us past them.

Defence - Give Ashdown a game, but keep the back four (God knows it, Lees needs the game time!):

    - Ashdown -
    - Peltier - Lees- Pearce - Drury -

The midfield and front is where I would change things. Byram has shown he can more than hold his own, while Austin could do with a rest, Diouf needs games but is probably playing his last match for us, while Zac Thompson needs some game time, plus give the front guys a rest

    - Byram - Brown - Thompson - Diouf -
    - Poleon - Gray -

We can have the bench filled with our usual first-team players

JLA, fair selection, although I'd start with Brown instead of Austin. He needs to keep his fitness levels up for the time when Austin is injured or suspended

Peltier has had a slight back / shoulder injury last few games. I would certainly rest him. Would be interested to see how Kisnorbo is getting on

No chance Elland. The sooner we get Rachubka off the books, the better. Play Cairns instead if necessary.

    Good thought Boggers.

My thinking of playing Austin is to get him "used to the English game."

We do need to be concerned about fatigue and fitness so those decisions can really only be made by the coaching staff.

I'd play Charlie Taylor (he's not out on loan is he? if so play Drury)

    ------------------------Ashdown------------------------

    Byram-------------Lees----------Kisnorbo----------Taylor

    Nunez-----------Brown----------Thompson---------Varney

    ----------------Poleon-----------Gray--------------------

Subs: Cairns, Pearce, Drury, White, Norris, Diouf, McCormack

That'd pretty much be the team I'd be playing, maybe White instead of Varney. Almost every player has been changed but we have a thin squad and need to get as many rested as possible as often as possible. Still keep a fairly strong bench though incase we start struggling
