Tuesday nights clash should be good with both teams coming into the game with a win. Not sure how Coventry are performing although achieved a good result against Forest, but Leeds looking to improve every game now. Do you think the Grayson episode will affect the players in any way or will it just be another day at the office? I'm predicting a 2-1 to Leeds. Any thoughts?
I think the players may have had an idea anyway and nothing is going to derail us this season - i'm sure we will lose more games this season but i think we can push for the Auto's but its gonna be tight - We just have to be consistent during and after Xmas for once. We can hope. MOT Oh yeah i;m going for 2-0 Leeds - Another clean sheet
Really confident about this. I know it's going to be a crap crowd, but I'm already looking forward to it. More of the same please Leeds! I predict 2-0 to United. PS: anyone know how long Lonergan's dislocated finger will keep him out for? A quick web search suggests maybe seven to 14 days' healing time, but will he be able to play before then with expert medical help?
I'm going for 2-0 aswell. Obviously we want Lonners back as soon as possible but I don't think we should rush him back as Rachubka proved himself to be perfectly capable during pre-season. Hopefully he'll see this as his chance and we'll have a bit of competition.
i reckon keep the exact same team providing everyone is fit. Obviously Lonners wont be ------------Rachubka----------- Connolly---Lees---O'Dear---White Snoddy---Howson--Clayton--Pugh -----McCormack---Keogh-------- Anyone agree with me yet about keogh being a better asset to the team than Becchio? Im going for a 2-0 win as well. I really dont see us losing this game. McCormack and Snoddy to get the goals, I just hope McCormack continues his scoring as well.
I agree,Andy Keogh has been brill,a definite `must buy`,amazing how Somma is a forgotten player now!(Lincoln will buy him)
Morning Josh. I actually think Becchio is slightly better. They both work hard for the team & do a lot of running & tackling back. But I couldn't imagine Becchio missing the chance Keogh had on Friday. Didn't affect the result this time. Not much in it to be honest. But becchio for me wins everytime. That said, no point in changing a winning team.
Don't think we'll sell Somma until SG's had a good look at him after his injury lay off. He was too good a natural finisher to be sold off yet. Let's see what he's like next season. Much as it grieves me to say so, I think Paynter will be on his way in the near future, either that or we'll loan him out to give him game time. In our current form & with Becchio of all people not starting matches, Paynter's go no chance of even a place on the bench at the moment.
nah i dont think becchio's link up play is anywhere near as good. I dont think mccormack would be shining so much if it werent for Keogh
Morning YNBK. We're now playing 442. The times when Paynter did play last season, we played 451. Not yet comparing like with like, but the way we're playing when even Becchio only gets a place on the bench, Paynter has no chance of even getting a place on the bench. Best he goes out on loan, gets some game time, & then SG decides what's best for him & the club. In answer to your question, I really don't now know. But send him out on loan & then take a look at him afterwards. If he still isn't scoring, sell given that Somma will be back next season & will be pushing for a place... if he recovers okay.
Keogh is indeed an asset but without Becchio we'd be in a bit of trouble. Imagine a scenario where we don't have Becchio. We are playing McCormack and Keogh up front, they are bossing it as usual. We have Forsell, Paynter and Nunez waiting on the sidelines. Nunez is more of an attacking mid anyway, but he can do a job up front. Now, McCormack sustains a serious injury, and is out until the end of the season. We still don't know how long Somma will be out for. What do we do for goals? Keogh provides a lot and is really doing the business but he's not a goalscorer. Paynter is a useless sack, we've not really seen much of Forsell, and Nunez is more of an attacking midfielder. We have 2 relatively good options (Forsell has looked bright after all) and one useless deadweight. but we don't have any guaranteed goals. It may take 4 or 5 games (or longer) to reshuffle the pack and find a goalscoring set up that works. We still have a few coming in from the midfield from the likes of Clayton, Pugh and Snodgrass, but we don't have anyone consistently keeping the goal tally high. Put Becchio back in the mix and we have a guaranteed goalscorer capable of playing in practically any forward set up. We can put him up front with anyone, or on his own and he's guaranteed to deliver. Keogh is a great asset, but without goals he will never be as good an asset as Becchio - Becchio will always score goals, and although his link up play is not as good as Keogh's, it's up there with the best in the league and that provides a platform for testing out attacking set ups with our other relatively unproven forwards.
It's this poster Jordan off General Chat. He sent a picture of himself to Viking Erik so we're now all using it as our avatars.
Saying Keogh's link up play is better than Becchio's is basically saying Keogh is the best link up striker in the league and Becchio's only second best. If we go back to one up front Becchio goes straight into the team, there isn't a striker in the division better than him in the lone striker role.
