Leeds came back with a bang beating Monk 2-1 and literally ramming the result down his throat. Leeds came out like a bullet train, and, apart from the penalty, we never seemed to wane throughout the match. After about 20 minutes I thought I was watching the FIFA version because of the way Leeds were playing. There was intent, enthusiasm, confidence and from somewhere, inspiration reared it's head in there too. The team looked a lot fitter, passing was the passing we saw at the beginning of the season, some were long and accurate, others not so accurate, many were short sharp passes between players, and several players alike. The players seemed rejuvenated and were playing for each other, something we hadn't seen for quite a few games. Shots at goal were back to the multiples but funnily enough, we only had 2 shots on target, and both went in for a goal, as they should. While many were saying welcome back Leeds, and we're back, I have to say "welcome back Jansson". Jansson played like the player we were use to seeing last season, and it was good for Jansson, good for the team and good to see. The trio of Pablo, Saiz and Alioski were back together and working like a charm. Saiz and Alioski were back to playing their link up play between each other, and Pablo, who deservedly got MOT was back to his best with his passing, long passes and an eye for a good defense splitting pass, and he put himself in the right position for our first goal. A cross from Alioski saw Phillips flick it on with his head and Pablo was there to finish it off by raising the roof of the net. Wow, Monks face was worth looking at after our first goal. On the 54th minute Pablo repaid Alioski for his cross by putting in an accurate cross across boro's goal and Alioski was there to bang it home, beautifull to see. Monks face was again worth looking at after our second goal. Whatever people say about Hernandez, we need him to start alongside Saiz and Alioski, these 3 created so many problems for Boros defence they forgot which day it was. Pablos passing, little dribbles, long defense splitting passes and an eye for an occasional goal is needed, he is a very experienced and skillfull player. He may not be at his best every game, but we need him in team. Watch how Pablo reads the game just before Alioski sets himself up to cross the ball. Leeds could've had 3 but Saiz's shot bounced back of the post and Coopers header went wide Game could've been a clean sheet for Leeds except for the penalty incident involving Ayling and Ayala. How the ref didn't see Ayala grabbing Aylings head and yanking him to ground is beyond everyone's belief, but Ayling retaliated by grabbing Ayala's leg and pulling him down, in our penalty box. Bad reffing in everyone's eyes and bad retaliation by Ayling. Assombalonga stepped up to make it 2-1. Our defence did a great job, all 4 players played an integral part in keeping Boro out. We saw a few tussles during game, and Berardi and Assombalonga stand out. We all know how Berardi plays, we've known for a few seasons now, and to be honest, I don't think anyone would want to change the way he plays, he gives 110% for Leeds, it's why they call him the beast. Incidentally, Berardi also had friend in his pocket. Other players play a similar way, some get away with it, others don't, it's football. Great win and great performance, now, we need to keep the momentum going against Wolves midweek, and, if we play same way, we can beat Wolves too.
