Leeds host Sunderland under the illuminated lights at Elland Road on Monday evening, hoping to extend their unbeaten to fifteen (league games). The stakes are high for both sides. Sunderland may be fourth in the Championship table, but a win could take them, to within four points of the Whites.

Daniel Farke's side have shown remarkable form in recent weeks, racking up five wins and three draws from their last eight outings. Sheffield Utd and Sunderland also have eighteen points on the board from the same amount of games, with Burnley lagging behind on sixteen.

Historically, however, Sunderland have been a tough opponent for the Whites; they’ve managed just one victory in their last seven league encounters against the Black Cats, with three draws in the past four meetings underscoring the competitive nature of this fixture.

Enzo Le Fee’s arrival last month has revitalized Sunderland’s midfield, taking some of the pressure off young sensation Jobe Bellingham. The potential for wide threats from Trui Hume and Dennis Cirkin adds to Sunderland's attacking threats, but they will face a Leeds defense that has proven resolute, going six league games without conceding.

Farke could potentially welcome back Pascal Struijk, who featured from the bench in Leeds’ recent 4-0 demolition of Watford after recovering from a hamstring injury. His anticipated return could see him re-establish a central defensive partnership with Joe Rodon, allowing Ethan Ampadu to revert to his preferred midfield role.

However, the visitors will be without key players Ajibola Alese, Niall Huggins, Tom Watson, and Jayden Danns for this matchup. Despite this, Romaine Mundle may have a role to play as he returns from injury, offering a boost to Le Bris's side. Wilson Isidor is expected to lead the line for the visitors as they aim to capitalize on any defensive lapses from the Championship leaders.

This is a game we need a statement win to say to Sunderland you aint catching us. win this we go 10 points clear of them which would be 4 wins for them to find on us as well as matching us in the remaining 13 games of the season.

Two things i remember was the Lorimer shot from close range, me jumping up and down for a goal and my dad shouting christ he saved it, as Montgomery pulled off a once in a lifetime save down to his left if memory serves me correctly, the whistle blowing for full time then Stokoe running on to the pitch doing a side shuffle jig, then the tears flowing down my face, never forget that, although the details might have got rather blurred over the years :(

Great refereeing in last minute of Burnley. This is a huge result for us. Chance to go seven clear of third place with a far better goal difference. Burnley are fairly hopeless and incapable of scoring. Commentators bragging about their defence <laugh>

Yawn......Goalless draw number 11 of the season for Burnley. These are starting to become costly in their pursuit of automatic promotion.

Please don’t let Burnley go up, what a boring team. Their fortune ran out today, no 1-0 win. To be honest I’ve always felt Sheffield and Sunderland will be our threat.

I’m hoping Sunderland hit a bit of a slump, we can start that off for them with a win on Monday

I wasn't concerned about Sunderland until the transfer window. They've done great business with Le Fee.

Sheff Utd will make top 2. It should be us with them. Burnley are **** but Sunderland look very dangerous going forward and will win plenty of games. Their defence is a bit sketchy.

Looking at the Luton vs Sheff stats at half time, we’d be spitting bricks if that was our performance, Luton should be winning this

Well if it had been Bamford who missed the Luton chance, everyone on here would be telling us how their 1 month old gerbil would have finished that ;)
