The Whites lost further ground to the Championship pacesetters after a disappointing midweek loss at the Stadium of Light, and are now ten points (and an inferior goal difference) behind Ipswich in second place. The Sky Blues have not been able to replicate the same kind of form that saw them reach the play-off finals last May, and subsequently lost the services of Viktor Gyökeres and Gustavo Hamer during the Summer. They now now sit eleven places and fifteen points below the Whites, six points from the drop zone. Leeds maybe heavy favourites for the win, but havn't beaten the Sky Blues since November 2010 when goals from Howson, Snodgrass and Gradel gave Simon Grayson's team a narrow 3-2 away victory. Leeds have no new injury concerns but will be without the services of Liam Cooper (Hamstring), Joe Gelhardt (hip), Luke Ayling (knee), Sam Byram (Hamstring), Junior Firpo and Stuart Dallas (leg). Kasey Palmer (groin), Liam Kelly (hamstring) and long term absentee Fabio Tavares (ruptured Achilles) miss the trip to West Yorkshire. Liam Kitching looks set to face his former club.
We last beat Coventry on 5th February 2011, Davide Somma scoring the only goal of the game, thus doing the double over them that season, having as mentioned won 3-2 away from home the previous November. Basically we have failed to win in our last 2 league meetings, drawing 1-1 at Elland Road in October 2011 and lost the return fixture, 2-1, in February 2012.
So Cov haven't been playing that badly and recently their form and results have picked up. Not as 'easy' a game in reality as, at first glance, it might appear on paper.
Coventry poor away from home, we need to bounce back, we can’t go into the Ipswich game with consecutive bad results
Hope you're right but there's always the nagging doubt that one day we'll go behind at home and won't be able to turn it around.
Ha ha. Well for better or worse, I’m on a 5 to 6 hr mini bus trip up from Eastbourne for the match and am in the South Stand. Courtesy of the Sussex Whites, who I came across on Facebook. First home game since the Bielsa years. Bit more of a trip than my normal 15 mins to EBFC, who are home to Yeovil next week.
Mark Robins is the longest serving manager in the Championship and in last years play off final. Doing it with no stadium and no cash. Yes we hope for a bounce back and 3 points plus a lot of goals and a clean sheet, but ……..
Depends who they played and how the oppos played. I am expecting Farke to demand total football and the fans to go mental.
