It won't be easy though, past results favour Jesse Marsch's side. The Whites have only lost once in their last 16 home games against the Bees. Should Brentford pull it off, it will be only the second time in their history they have completed the double over Leeds. Archie Gray, Stuart Dallas, Crysencio Summerville and Adam Forshaw once again miss out, though 16yo Gray has at least returned to training. After taking a knock against Cardiff City midweek, Max Wober returned to training today, and is available for selection. Patrick Bamford who scored a brace midweek, is expected to be named on the bench, alongside Luis Sinisterra who is also coming back from injury. Georginio Rutter has been working on his fitness this week, and if he plays, it will only be a cameo role. Shandon Baptiste (hip), Frank Onyeka (thigh) and former Leeds favourite (Pontus Jansson (thigh) are all ruled out for the visitors, whilst Arron Hickey and Rico Henry both face late fitness tests.
Signs in the last couple of League games that we're improving and that a win isn't far away. We're so unpredictable though there's no way of knowing if it will come on Sunday. 3-1 Leeds if we play well.... and if not...3-1 Brentford.
Basketball game incoming. Brentford love to play on the break and that's clearly our weak point. However, the 5-2 defeat earlier this season was actually a decent performance by us. They had a 50/50 VAR penalty given which took an age to give. Toney scored the best free kick he'll ever score. Llorente gifted one at the end and VAR took an age to decide whether Toney or Koch flicked the ball on to an offside player. I personally still believe Toney got a slight touch. Meslier smashed a ball straight to Toney when out of his area which he duly lobbed in to the net. Basically everything they hit went in. At the other end we had a completely misfiring Bamford missing a 1 v 1 and putting a shot wide of an open goal from 8 yards out. We had a certain penalty not given for a shirt pull on Summerville which VAR didn't even look at. Just one of those days. One thing was certain, the scoreline flattered them and saw the end of Llorente as a starting centre back. I think it will be a similar game, with us pouring forward creating plenty of chances and Brentford trying to soak it up and hit us on the break. It's basically who takes the most chances. Should be a great game to watch. Not sure it will be too enjoyable for us fans as we will be put through the wringer once more. This could easily reach 8 or 9 goals in this match.
Yep could/should be a cracker. Brentford likely to have around 35% to 38% possession but they have the ability to hurt teams. Plus they never seem to panic because they know chances will eventually come their way. Looking forward to it
I actually thought we were better than them down there and the majority of their goals had an element of good fortune attached to them. And let's face it Toney hasn't scored free kicks like that before or since. Throw in the old individual errors and the usual VAR dumbfuckery and that was it.
Missed that game but unfortunately what you describe seems to be the story of our season so far. Looking good but failing to take the points is very dangerous when it continues for too long.
This season we played them off the park 1st half and then turned to **** 2nd half and lost 2-1. We've had some decent performances on the quiet which is what brings out so much hope in me.
Thought it may have been, 4-1 if I remember correctly, dodgy paddy offside and a few free kicks their way
That freak own goal off Alioski from the corner flag. We seem to have far too many "one of those days" performances.
Toney shouldn’t even be playing, the FA are being far too slow in sorting out whether he is guilty or not of betting on games. Annoying that by the time he gets his suspension we’ll be entering March when Brentford will be facing Everton, Forest and Leicester when we’ll be wishing they had Toney available
I thought along the same lines, I was going to say he’ll score a hat trick but your half full is better than my half empty
We were robbed of a decent VAR Ref last time, we should have had a penalty, think Summerville brought down? Refused and VAR didn’t even look at it, but the ball went straight down the other end and they scored. So could have been 0-1 to us but…. So that result wouldn’t have been the rout it looked like in the papers.
Emu’s assessment of the Brentford game is pretty accurate. Absolutely everything that could go wrong did go wrong. https://www.infogol.net/en/matches/...r-league/brentford-vs-leeds-2022-09-03/954147 Most of their xg comes from the penalty and the gifted offside and Lorente fck ups. It was indeed like the palace game we lost 4-1… first season back. That had the famous paddy offside for pointing… and not one of meslier’s better days.
