Hi Elland, not a bad new years thanks. Didnt do a lot, not a big fan of it. Hoping for a good result today to banish the Leeds xmas blues, hopes raised by starting line up.
Beckford worked well for us because we played a style of play totally suited to him. He needed Becchio or Kandol alongside plus two wingers. It worked but we were very one-dimensional - if we had had better centre midfielders (I did like Kilkenny a lot, but a faster, stronger, bigger player with his passing ability was needed) or we had kept the team together another couple of seasons to give them more experience (Howson needed more time and more steel), - if we had our current defenders I think we would have gone up last season at latest. But Bates would never have allowed that team the time. And I can't see Beckford and McCormack working together - not because they can't, but because either or both would probably sulk
Im happy with either Lees or Wooton, both about the same level in my eyes. Nice to see both Byram and Mowatt start, we should look a lot better on the ball today then against Florist.
Those are three points I make quite often Elland. Three academy players starting with one more on bench shows we are doing things right. With a couple of good buys this month we have the makings of a very good, competitive squad. Wow its nice to be positive for a change.
