Somma must start next season! I don't go along with this 'only useful as an impact sub' lark,he deserves a decent run in the starting eleven imo. Play him alongside Becchio, with Nunez in behind them. Either Snoddy or Max on the right(assuming one of them leaves). As this is quite an attacking formation I'd play TWO defensive midfielders(can't remember their names but the two who played for Uruguay in last years world cup were phenomenal-they'd do!) In defense White deserves chance at left back(could be a Terry Cooper/Tony Dorigo in the making),with Lees alongside a hopefully fully fit Kissa in central defence with Lichal(loan or permanent)at right back,& obviously Kasper in goal.
    Kasper
    Lichal. Kissa. Lees. White
    DM. DM
    Snoddy/Max.
    Nunez
    Somma. Becchio

    Subs-McCormack,Howson,Connelly,O'Brien,Gimple,Sam,GK

Doesn't look too bad! Just the small matter of finding two defensive midfielders!

We don't have to sell either of them. They most likely will both be here.

And your formation doesn't make sense. Nunez behind two strikers, with Snoddy/Gradel on the right and 2 DM? Who's on the left?

That would be the most useless formation in the history of football.

White is an attacking left back,so when he's storming up the left flank, the left-sided DM would cover for him. Don't think we can accommodate both Snoddy & Gradel on the flanks, leaves the defence over-exposed,so just one could play,& if I had a choice it would probably be Max. We'd have to give the free-kick/corner taking duties to someone else which would be such a bad thing-cant remember the last time we scored a goal from a dead ball situation when Snnods was taking it.

Shut up Simon 21, its a decent line up apart from the defense. Change Lee's and White to Hobbs and Burke then its brilliant. Although mine would be

    --------------------Schemichal

    Lichaj-------Kisnorbo-----Hobbs--------Burke

    -----Snodgrass------ Nolan---------Gradel

    ---------------Nunez

    --------Somma------Becchio/RM

No, you shut up, and Chris Burke at left back? Aside from childish banter, you do know it is because he has included no left sided midfielder. I'd go with

    -------------------------------Schmeichel

    -----Connolly----------Kissa--------------Lees(new CB)-----------New LB(Lichaj/Taylor)

    ------------------------New CM(Cork)----New CM (Clayton?)

    -----Snodgrass-----------------Howson--------------------------Gradel

    ----------------------------------Becchio

Simon 21,when you said my formation was the worst in the history of football(bit harsh mate!)I thought you were going to come back with some world-beating line-up/formation to put me right. Seems I was wrong! Agree with you re Burke not being a left back but prefer Que Somma Somma's personnel tbh. At least he's included our best striker & our little Honduran playmaker. I included two DM's as it would give our defence more cover whilst not affecting our attacking prowess.
Still, its all about opinions at the end of the day,& we'll probably see Mr Grayson continue to pick Paynter instead of Somma-infuriating!!

To be fair to the 4-2-3-1, it is world beating in a sense because it's the formation pretty much everyone at the World Cup used. Inter and Barca have used it, Man U have used it, it is a pretty successful formation.

For me, Simon's lineup is pretty perfect. I'd perhaps have Nunez in brackets next to Howson because they both deserve an equal chance and I'd rather see Westwood between our sticks than Schmeichel (really need to stop banging on about him!) but otherwise, spot on.

    1. Becchio is our best striker.
    2. While Nunez is promising he's unproven past a couple of games with Scunthorpe, a good prospect but certainly not as good as Snoddy, Howson or Max.

Somma's record shows he is far more useful as an impact sub, and I don't see what's wrong with that.

Nolan? As in Kevin Nolan from Newcastle? He's on about £50,000 a week and was one of their best players last season. Anyway, he's an attacking midfielder. So playing him, Gradel, Nunez and Snodgrass would be shocking.

Nolan can tackle tho mate, unlike Howson, Johnson and Kilkenny. Somma scored 6 off the bench yes, but he scored 6 starting?????? so why people keep saying he's more of a super sub it baffles me. The reason he's a super sub is cos he's a top championship striker, he was our top scorer at one point lmao. Nunez is better than Howson, dont see Howson scoring crackers or running rings round anyone, all Howson does is stand behind Becchio and run at tiring defences

He's still an impossible signing for the club, that will NEVER happen. Mascherano can tackle - shall we sign him aswell?

As for playing a midfield consisting of all attack minded players, when we have one of the worst defences in the league already - a terrible idea.

Yes, but when we sign Mascherano, we can play him at centre back. That'll sure up the defence a bit.

The reason for the supersub thing is the stat I provided. We score 1.8 goals per game with him on the bench and that decreases to 1.5 goals when he starts. Sometimes you have to take decisions for the benefit of the team and not for one individual. Howson did score some good goals against Burnley, Donny and Scunthorpe for instance, but I do agree him and Nunez have an equal right to be in the team and need to prove themselves early on next season. How much of Nunez have you actually seen? You seem to know a lot about his style of play, can't say I've ever seen more than the substitute appearance against Cardiff and one of his games at the Copa Centroamericana, but the Scunthorpe loan has definitely given him the right to stake a claim for a place in the team.

gk - Casper (Joe Murphy backup)
    rb - Connolly/Lihaj??
    cb - Kissa (O'Brien)
cb - Lees (new athletic CB Caulker??)
    lb - White (Taylor??)
    rm - Snoddy (Sam)
dm - Keith Andrews/Neil Danns?? (Clayton)
    cm - Howson (Nunez)
    lm - Gradel (White)
    cf - Becchio
    cf - McCormack (Somma)

Whilst I know it would be wishful thinking getting in the players listed above, it is imperative to secure a DM, CB, LB, Lihaj and a utility midfielder. A sturdy CF to play understudy to Becchio would be a luxury as well.

<party><party><party><yikes><yikes><yikes>A typical lower league side by the look of it that will be lucky to be a bottom half side in the table, old papa needs to open his wallet as there is no chance of getting anywhere near the playoffs let alone promotion with that side....only being honest..

Thought I'd hoof this thread now we've seen who the freebies are.

    Becchio
    Gradel - Howson[1] - Snodgrass
    Cork[2] - Cohen[3]
    Samuel - Higginbotham[4] - O'Brien[4] - Connolly
    Westwood

    1. Or Nunez if he impresses
    2. Or Gunarsson if we can't get him
    3. Or Zenden/Koumas. Would be good to get one of those as backup anyway
    4. Insert Kisnorbo/Lees here depending on whoever impresses the most

I hope we get Cork, sounds like an exciting young prospect that will do more than a job for us, and we should deffinitely be a more attractive prospect than Southampton or whoever else has made a bid.
