That is right, we have brought in a keeper before the weekend. A 21 year old from Reading. Only made one appearance this season and that was in the carling cup. Has had previous spells on loan with Brentford, Yeovil, Aldershot and Cambridge. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11715/7290410/Leeds-to-land-McCarthy Im happy we got a keeper, i think we coulda done better, is he gonna be that much better than Cairns? Well to be fair i have no idea, never seen him play. What does people think?
Another cheap option no doubt when West Ham had Green injured they signed Almunia we sign someone who has little or no experience talk about frying pan to the fire has Simon got a death wish
People have short memories on here don't they. He was the 'keeper for Reading last season that single handedly prevented us winning the game.

McCarthy I have just read WIKI and it states he has signed for us England under21 and from the accolades looks like a great loan signing to me has already played against Everton at Goodison and Man City aquitting himself extremely well so I must aplogize for my very cutting comments
Looks to be a decent short term solution. Thing about Cairns is, while it'd be great to give him a run, we can't take that risk if we want to be challenging for the playoffs. He's completely inexperienced and he might not even be considered that good a prospect. McCarthy clearly is - having already played a bit for Reading and on loan and for England under21s. Should do well, looks promising.
he'd an unreal game against us last season he might be the short term answer that we so desperately lack at the moment
60, Thanks for this & thanks for evening up the cr%p written elsewhere on other sites. If he really does have that level of experience for someone so young, let's hope it works out for him at Leeds over the next few weeks. Rachubka may well get sent out on loan to L2 to get his confidence back or have his contract "terminated by mutual consent". So McCathy having a successful run & then extending as back up till then end of the season would give Cairns more time to work on his game. Time will tell how this all pans out. Let's hope for McCarthy having a good game Sunday & us getting 3pts as a result.
Ah, forgot about him playing for Reading at ER last season. He was pretty sharp looking with his saves. Kicking was a bit dodgy if I remember rightly? Welcome too, CaptainHook! Not seen you posting before.
Will reserve judgement until I have seen him play in a Leeds shirt, I can't help but feel a little worried that we have signed a rival teams 3rd choice keeper, there are a few reserve premier keepers with more experience but let us see.
He was impressive at Elland Road but he's still a young keeper. It doesn't say much for Grayson's confidence in Cairns if he's bringing another young keeper in.
Cairns has played 45 minutes of senior football. McCarthy has played countless games, albeit at a lower level
