Warnock set to seal move for keeper

    By Pete O'Rourke - Follow me: @skysportspeteo. Last Updated: July 2, 2012 9:52am

Sky Sports understands Leeds are locked in talks with Queens Park Rangers as they try and thrash out a deal for goalkeeper Paddy Kenny.

Leeds boss Neil Warnock has been given the green light to pursue a move for Kenny as he looks to be reunited with the former Bury and Sheffield United shot-stopper.

QPR are willing to let Kenny move on having brought in England international Robert Green on a free transfer last month.

Talks are taking place between both clubs with Leeds hoping to push through a deal for Kenny later this week with a number of other clubs monitoring the keeper's situation.

Warnock is a huge admirer of Kenny and hopes to make the 34-year-old his fourth signing of the summer after the arrivals of Jason Pearce, Adam Drury and Paul Green.

    FRom QPR Report

"""Kenny will complete move to Leeds
Paddy Kenny is ready to sign for Leeds United this week - after QPR accepted a bumper promotion bonus in the deal.
Keeper Kenny will be re-united with Neil Warnock for just £400,000 after Rangers allowed him to sort out the move back to Yorkshire.
And Leeds are also due to pay QPR a further £300,000 if they clinch a place in the Premier League - with the switch to be rubber-stamped once the Elland Road club get new investment in the next few days... Mirror"""

That makes it look a bargain but 400k plus a possible 300k is a rip off for a 34 yo keeper coming off a terrible season.

Especially considering we already have a better keeper who's only 28

A steal if the price quoted are correct. Will have the same effect on them as he had on us, played a massive part in getting us promoted. Kenny bring so much more to the table than just playing games every saturday.

No you don't. You'll know that already when Kenny's been around for no more than a month, I promise.

Kenny was the worst keeper in the division last season, truly terrible. But Warnock only really likes to sign his former players. Hed be in for Hill and Derry if he had the chance.

I really hope your right. What I saw of him in the prem he was shocking. Lonners was amazing for us last season (until about the time warnock came in coincidentally)

Oh dont worry, we got hugely linked with both those players already. Obviously its not happening now but I'm pretty sure he was interested before he realised we weren't gonna get em

Two of our best performers when we won promotion, Kenny and Taarabt, found out that keeping shots out and scoring them was a tad bit harder in the Prem. Yes Kenny didn't have the best of seasons last time out but it was not as bad as some on here want you to believe :) Kenny know the Championship better than any and what it takes to get you out of it, the right way.

Derry is a possibility but theres no chance of Hill as hes just signed a 1 year deal.

The only hope you have with Kenny is that his injury clears up, I assume he had some kind of must play clause as well because he was so bad that he couldnt move to save anything yet the reserve keeper (who is better than him) only played 5 games when he 1st got injured.

No, Derry is staying, seeing out his contract, and then retiring.
