Leeds boss Warnock has dig at QPR 16/11/2012 by West London Sport Neil Warnock has told talkSPORT he believes QPR have âlost a bit of their soulâ under his successor Mark Hughes. Warnock, now in charge at Leeds, was sacked by Rangers in January and replaced by Hughes, whose team are without a league win this season despite more heavy spending during the summer. âItâs alright having good players but youâve got to get them gelling and thatâs not possible at the moment,â he said. âI just think theyâve lost a little bit of the soul of the club with so many people coming from abroad, but thatâs the managerâs choice. âI felt three or four sensible signings would have been sufficient. I would have gone English to get that dressing room [together]. I thought it was a great dressing room. âI suppose Mark has been used to foreign players and with the agents involved itâs easier to bring in foreign players but gelling them is a little bit more difficult, no matter how good they are. âThe results havenât been good enough and theyâve got to turn it around because it would be a worry with the wage bill what it is now to carry on the second half of the season like they have done the first.â
'I thought it was a great dressing room.' For a while - but then I lost it completely and we went into free fall. But for soulless Hughes, it's got to be the other way round. Seems he never found it in the first place! We're still waiting...
That's a bit harsh...... he was never given the proper chance! He didn't even make it to the transfer window. And, he was doing better with what he had than what MH has with all this money and his own choice of players! But it's harsh all around. I'm being harsh. NW is being harsh (but very poignant). At the same time, it's better than the free fall we experienced going all the way down to League 1, for chrissakes..... and I'm hoping we're not starting another free fall with MH!
What a dickhead Warnock turned out to be, he signed SWP Barton and Bothroyd, he lost the dressing room, he was really clueless, he offered to drive Adel to PSG, potential players had to have the ok from his wife, he goes to Leeds and signs a sewer rat, Leeds are not in the promotion race. So sorry i sent him an email, did anyone ever get a reply?
Some people are a harsh on Warnock. We all knew what he was like when he joined and some are now criticising him for it. But we loved him when he was here and he did us a great job. I'm not saying he would have kept us up but he wasn't doing this badly, anyway.
Me too....good point about the english dressing room....We only started with one english player last week...Can not be good for communication..
The point about English players is a valid one, look at West Ham, the nucleus of that team is English and they just seem to be a 'team' rather than a ragbag collection of individuals...
Yeah, lets get more English players like the ones Warnock signed, wheres the new SWP, Hulse and Barton!
Warnock preferred English because he didn't have the contacts to sign good foreign players nor is he cultured enough to manage them. I don't think the mix of players is a factor, it all depends on how good the manager is.
Warnock has two sides to him imo. A likeable side and a quite horrible side too . Nevertheless, I find myself agreeing with everything he said there.
Hypocrite and liar. NW has no class whatsoever he should shut up and concentrate on relegating Leeds.
Warnock did a blinding job for us and it staggers me the vitriol he seems to get from some qpr fans. People seem to forget the **** Warnock had to tolerate. I can't remember a better qpr season than when we won the championship. For me, he remains a qpr legend. What he has recently said was measured and restrained.
Loopy, I take issue with that. Warnock was ALWAYS a dickhead. We knew him and his ways for years yet because he joined us, the fans decided he wasn't a dickhead any more. That was of course, until he left us and all of a sudden he was a dickhead again!! That said, I kind of like dickheads in the game because they make it interesting and COLIN has a bit of character about him. And I agree wiv everything he said in that piece.
Give me Neil Warnock anytime over Mark Hughes. NW did miracles at our club in the couple of years he was with us and that shouldnt be forgotten. Turned us from relegation fodder in the championship to champions in 1 year and whilst in the premiership we actually won 3 away premiership games in the few months he was with us.
