just to clear up DoF role ... his first task is to ensure he helps the club drive their vision on the field by helping the manager/head coach ... he will work closely with the scouting network and the academy ... players flagged up through the system who fit in with the club's philosophy will be forwarded to the DoF who will in turn share this info with the manager the DoF will have control of the transfer budget, and his job is to negotiate transfer fees and wages ... this frees up the manager to focus on coaching the players and driving the results side of the business ... the manager identifies areas for improvement in the squad, and also gives the DoF a list of players he would like to add to the team, along with those that need to be sold ... the DoF will add players identified by the scouts to this list, and then the players will be looked at in accordance with the budget and if they fit in with the club's long term plans once the list has been finalised after checking availability, cost and willingness to join Leeds, the manager will agree ranking in importance of requirements and the DoF will go ahead and open talks with clubs/players/thieves ... Radz will not force the manager to take players he doesn't want, he's not Cellino who hired puppets with no clue and then pushed them around ... the only caveat is that the players the manager wants are capable of delivering the club's vision on the field ... Huddersfield and Wagner famously called this their "identity" managers who have an issue with a DoF are archaic, and they want to pull ALL the strings, doing things their way, not the club's way ... football is changing, and the transfer negotiations are moving to exec level more and more ... I am in agreement with this, as it prevents the ridiculous situation of managers massively overpaying for duds ... clubs can't afford to simply allow managers to lump them with all sorts of players on longer term contracts, then see the manager fcuk off and the club is stuck with a bunch of staff who don't fit the new manager's thinking look at it this way ... clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Ajax, Benfica all have a certain type of player they recruit ... they have a way of playing, and they don't deviate from it, regardless of who their manager is ... this has helped these clubs to create a high level of consistency that runs throughout the club from Under-9s through the academy and into the first team ... everyone understands the clubs philosophy, and everyone works towards a common goal Radz has said he wants to build something special at Leeds, and he is clearly putting a sound blueprint in place for the club to follow ... Bravo is key to the academy and scouting, Bravo is key to helping the manager identify and sign the best possible players available to deliver the vision, Kinnear is key to ensuring that commercially the club functions efficiently ... this bodes well for the future of Leeds United, and this professionalism and stability is what will help the club to return to the Prem and start pushing for European competition again ... there is a plan, there are quality people in place to help drive the vision, so much better than the thieves and maniacs who came before Tommy clearly understands his role in the club, and he believes his philosophies match up to those of Leeds ... this, along with his winning mentality, makes him a good fit right now ... here's to continued progress Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
