Maguire has got the accounts and has summarised all. For those interested read through the whole thread of tweets, of which there are at least 9
I’ll leave it for someone else to dissect but less than £2m received in transfer fees, £99m spent. Average wage bill equates to £55k
For those who will have taken a poor view of the accounts and want to blame Radz etc, maybe read what Keiron Maguire actually says in the YEP he says Leeds are doing great and likes the way the board have done things on wages and the way Radz has used bonuses for insurance purposes. £38m last season for staying up and £45m this season if we stay up….. its protected the club and we arein a minority of clubs who made a profit, especially when the pandemic cost the club £23m…. https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co...-united-accounts-profit-and-potential-3644000
The bonuses paid for avoiding relegation seem astronomical but they are eminently sensible. At least we now know that the players are playing for their own financial futures both short & medium term.
Emu I guess you ask this due to no rent being charged in the accounts? Ifyou remember the accounts always had ER rent, and then Radz bought ER with his own cash. The line in the accounts for rent stayed but not charged. This was done to stop the value of the club on paper doubling, which would double the value of the debenture owed to GFH bandits. As soon as the debenture was paid off Radz transffered the deeds for ER to whichever company controlled the club, for example Leeds Utd Ltd. So no rent will ever be charged again and immediately the value of the club back then went from £50m to £100m overnight. Hope this makes sense mate
So all this bulkcrap about Kalvin being so loyal and having a lower wage can now stop. He got a new contract and must be on a large fortune. So if he does leave of his own accord this summer then let's hope we hold out for a big fee. He is not the be all and end all of Leeds Utd.
Thought it was common knowledge about bonus money for staying up. Then if a club get relegated none are paid. Beats inflated contracts that used to be paid staying up or not.
Clubs cottoned on to ‘pay structures by division’ a while ago and implementing it into player contracts. It makes the parachute payment logic very outdated.
Initially I thought this then I wondered maybe he still is, why would he have a new contract offer on the table now IF he signed one on our promotion. I am wondering if he was on £25k a week in the Championship, we won promotion and a new contract was drawn up but hasn't been signed yet? Surely he never signed a new contract in 2021 if so then there isn't a chance he was only offered £25k - I am thinking he might have stalled on a new offer last year? Another thing about the accounts, we were obviously inside FFP by a long way
