I would just like to get hold of some of the footage from either of the 2 clashes with Leeds, either at AG or the replay. They were the most amazing games I have been to in 40 years of watching football, and a seminal moment for me and my ol' dad
Sad really ain't it, back then we all thought that we was going to rise and rise. Now we are celebrating a win in the 5th round of the FA Cup 40 years ago. Makes me want to cry
I was on the Leeds Kop when Don Gillies scored. I think it's probably the scariest moment in my football supporting life. Couldn't celebrate otherwise I'm sure my good looks would not be with me nowadays. Hey but I've also watched City in the 4th so swings and roundabouts as they say.
Blimey that must have been well scarey It was bad enough in one of the stands, when we stood up to have a little dance and nobody else moved.
But it wasnt just any old win was it For one thing it was against one of the teams of the 70s, and for another it was the coming of age of the best young side we have yet produced
I was with the City fans but getting out of the ground and back to my mates Dads car was the scariest moment of my football supporting life. Even though I was only 13 the Leeds fans literally wanted to kill anyone from Bristol.
I remember it well, got headbutted by a big Leeds skinhead thug, made the bus to the railway station, and ran for my life to the train, after that it was bring on Liverpool, blimey those were the days.
I remember walking past the Leeds Kop end as they piled out after the match, some of the most undesirable individuals I had ever seen. Ironically now I actually live in Leeds I can take a flying guess at the district where they all lived. On the way back down the motorway the dear things were throwing breeze blocks off of a motorway bridge onto any car they suspected might be from Bristol.
And as a hangover from the Revie era I still hate Leeds even now. They were the biggest bunch of whinging cheats of the era, especially Bremner and Giles. This was long before the foreign invasion came in the 90's and brought diving and feigning injury into the game. IMO Don Revie as an individual, was objectionable. I will forgive Norman Hunter and Terry Cooper though. They saw the light and came to us !
'Supporters offer Leeds '74 print' I couldn't care a f**k. Always looking for ways to fleece the fans - £250 for a sheet of paper ! Sooner or later someone at Ashton Gate will realise we've had enough of being continually shafted. They should concentrate nailing fu**ing Cotterill on his signings, selections, motivation and a logical game plan. I'd grill that tw*t and replay all his lame duck excuses that change from game to game. FFS - make Cotterill accountable.
Dont agree. I'd like to make the people who appointed him (without due care and attention) accountable instead.
I didn't speak for about an hour and a half on that day (some of my friends won't believe that was possible) in case my dulcet tones were recognised and my features were rearranged. Hey the good old days of football. I lived in Sheffield at the time and managed to go to a Leeds Man utd game. That was like world war three on the ground not far from the stadium pitched battles all over the place. Scary or what????
