What a fella. Could have walked to get better money elsewhere but was one of the only ones to stay loyal. Well done big mon.
'what a lack of ambition' 'chasing the dollar!!' 'sacrificing any possibilty of playing for Scotland' sorry I don't know what came over me there!!
I'm trying my best to leave it alone, as well Fair play for the 5 year deal bit, if he leaves, Rangers will make money - it's the rest of the OP that sounds like dugshite to me. It was my understanding that he's on the same wages (under TUPE) that he was on in the SPL. I haven't heard of any team making an offer for him. If they did, no Scottish team could offer higher wages and I doubt anyone is battering the door down for him. Wolves expressed an interest at one point but never made an offer. Anyone else offering him "more money" that I missed?
Davis, Aluko, lafferty etc all walked away and are no doubt on better money than they were at Rangers. Get the point?
How do you know Lafferty, for example, is on more money? Davis probably is as he's in the EPL but you can't say he (Wallace) could "walk for better money" I severely doubt he could. As for why I care, I don't especially - the OP makes him out to be some sort of martyr for the cause when he isn't - he's signing a contract that's good for him and good for the club, he isn't taking a paydrop - he's being paid more than entire squads he's going to face this season. He's getting the best pay packet he could - Dean Shiels dad on Sportscene said the reason his son moved to Rangers was "financial" but, again, there's all this "here for the journey" pish. He can't get more money elsewhere - he's never had a better deal in his life.
Yeah they offered Lafferty lower than the £14k a week he was on. He decided to move to Switzerland of all places for a lower wage. Wake up ya ****in clown.
no idea how much lafferty was offered but id be surprised if it was much more than 14k i think some of the players walked not for money but for security - and to play at a decent level i think wallace is making a mistake - he could have been plaing for his country at the weekend but its his decision - he is young enough to think that in a few years he will be back in the interntional fold and possibly champs league
Just to clarify, a player who had clashed with the manager recently and whose club collapsed around him left "for more money". Also, a player who has just signed a 5 year deal at a 3rd div club paying him SPL wages "could've walked for more money" Right y'are.
To be serious for once, I think Lee Wallace is a smashing player, i'm on record as saying he should have been in the Scotland squad and I personally don't have any issue with him signing a new contract. He's obviously happy at Rangers and even though some may question his ambition i'm not one of them. He's his own man and i'm sure he's made what he thinks is the corrrect decision. I suspect though that he has been told what others have been told that Rangers will be in SPL2 next season. Whether that comes to pass or not we will have to wait and see.
Yeah, I know there are many places to go to raise a child away from bigotry but do you really think that's why he went to Switzerland? Do you honestly believe his wage is below £14k there? Wallace is an excellent player and if you don't think he would have been snapped up by a premier league or championship club (who can offer more wages) then indeed you are a clown. Blackburn, Wolves and some other team were said to be interested in him at 1 stage. If he walked and signed for any of them he would be on a lot more than the £10-£15k he's on now.
