Former Bristol City player Lee Tomlin charged with GBH following nightclub incident
The incident is alleged to have occurred a day after Bristol City’s 1-0 away defeat to Nottingham Forest in January

Former Bristol City player Lee Tomlin has been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent following an alleged incident outside a nightclub in Leicester.

Tomlin was allegedly involved in the incident, which occurred in the early hours of January 22 – a day after the Robins lost 1-0 away to Nottingham Forest.

The 28-year-old, who now plays for Cardiff City following a £2.9million move in the summer , was charged alongside Accrington Stanley striker Billy Kee.

Janine Smith, from the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), told the Daily Mail : “The CPS has received a file of evidence from Leicestershire Police relating to an incident in the early hours of 22 January.

“Following a review of the evidence, the CPS has authorised the police to charge Lee Tomlin and Billy Kee with inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.'

The pair are due to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on September 18.

Prior to departing Ashton Gate in July, City manager Lee Johnson said Tomlin remained part of his plans for the forthcoming season but that wasn't to be the case after he joined Neil Warnock's side across the Severn Bridge.

Johnson had said: "He has to make sure he conforms to everything that's a part of that Bristol City culture and Bristol City ethos."
Former Middlesborough and Bournemouth player Tomlin has made three appearances for his current side and Championship leaders Cardiff City this season but is yet to score.

Kee, 26, has scored twice in three games for Accrington, who are ninth in League Two.

I can understand Lee Johnson reasons for getting rid of this man now and I completely agree with him and compliment him on the way he handled the whole scenario, he did an excellent job.

I wonder if Warnock was aware of the Tomlin circumstances and if he did why the hell sign hin for £2.9m (Reported)

Good business for Bristol City though.
