We all know that Lee Peltier is possibly on his way now the long running Mills saga is finally finished but at what cost? Rumours have it that £350,000 has been offered for a guy that is young and improving all the time, also quite good at this level and made 40+ appearances last season for us and was our regular first choose.

How much do you think he would cost us if we were buying him from another championship team? I do not think we would have any change from £1.5m. I know he is liked by most Fans but also has some critics, however it strikes me that this is just another give away (BOGOF) by LCFC.

I will make one prediction that we pay over 4 times that amount for a replacement who may not be any better.

I think we have a replacement in De Laet with Moore as well.

I think Pearson likes defenders that can defend.

Yes I think the two full back slots are sorted. With none of his previous players likely to come here from Hull (now I anticipate a flood of them on here now), which is fair play to Bruce, hope NP is looking at some other good targets as IMO we've lost out to Burnley to get Jason Shackell - in NP I trust though.

Just my hunch ... but I think NP will put in a sizeable bid for Chester ... that doesn't mean it will be accepted ... but more than one 'source' (ignoring how reliable for now) has stated that Mr Chester is NP's No 1 transfer target and we are shedding defenders like nobody's business ....

I think its clear we will bid.

Have no idea how much and whether it'll be accepted but I think it'll be 3m and I think it might just be accepted.

However my main concern is with the wingers/strikers.

Jeff and Harry are going on loan and beckford will probably be shipped out. Howard is now a free agent.

Leaves us with Waghorn and Nugent.

Doesn't fill me with a load of confidence.

If he liked defenders who couldn't defend, he'd have kept Bamba, Mills and Peltier.

After December, Peltier went down hill massively. Caught out so, so many times.

Agree with Southern Fox, think hes worth way more than that, and he will still improve no end, think its a mistake to ship him out, they got enough profit out of Gradel ...

AKCJ - I take my hat off to you sir .... you have turned self-contradiction into pure art ... to manage it twice in one sentence borders on genius ... have you considered a career in politics?

Will we bid for Chester but i dont think we will get him. Sven only had 1 target last year for a defender and we went all out and got him.

Nigel proved in the past with Tunchev, Morrison and Hobbs that he can find a defender from nowhere

One player i like the look of is Kyle Bartley from Arsenal, he spent all of last season on loan at Rangers and Arsenal might be tempted to sell or loan him.

I dont think we should break the bank to sign a defender as i think Morgan and St. Ledger would be good enough partnership aslong as they have some decent competition.

Paul Konchesky and Tom Kennedy sort of left back and Ritchie De Laet and Liam Moore sort out right back

And Greg Cunningham has just signed a 4 year deal with Brizzle Rovers. Wasn't he good for us on loan from Manc City?

Craig - don't doubt anything you have said at all ... but quite often a transfer has more to do with a club's attitude than what a player wants (or how he feels)... and if a player is told "we've had a bid and it meets with our valuation of you etc" then usually the player goes ... its all speculation currently ....we went after Nicky Maynard with a vengeance and got knocked back time and time again by his club ... but they sold to west Ham as soon as it was convenient and the price was right ...

Have to disagree .. preferred him to Konchesky .. but it's all about opinions ... can't believe he hasn't been snapped up by a Championship outfit .. although Bristol Rovers are a very ambitious outfit ...

I don't know, job to say who was better.

I think Konch will be better over a season though.

    He is just consistently good.

I just can't take to him ... opposition teams with any sense will target him knowing that he has little restraint and will dive in (foul) whether inside or just outside the penalty area .. that makes him a liability for me .. but I hope he proves me wrong (if he is staying) and it doesn't cost us red cards and points ..
