Great engine on him but very little end product... if he could notch up a few goals and better deliveries he could be a very handy player at this level.... though he's never been able too in his 3 years with us <ok>

Good luck with him, especially when he tackles.

In all honesty, on a one year deal as opposed to a £2 mill transfer fee, massive wages and a four year contract, you have a cracking little player.

He's FAR FAR better through the middle in the hole off the striker as opposed to the wing however.

As mentioned, he can be a very petulant discipline wise which is annoying. Also, his end product both crossing/shooting is often wayward, however, if you can find a clip for his goal away at Birmingham 2 years or so ago, he certainly has ability too!

    Good luck with him.

I don't think there's alot of love lost between Martin and Ipswich fans, although he certainly can be a decent player at this level, unfortunately he was worth nowhere near what we paid or gave him in wages. Has a serious lack of end product (like alot of wingers) but can often force an issue by his positive play. I have to say I was slightly dissapointed that we couldn't come to a deal with him as we lack anyone who can run at players at the moment, although I think I'm in the minority there. Just don't play him on the LW, he has to play in the hole or on the RW.

Like KOPR says you've got yourself a decent player at his level on a free and probably decent wages.

6 goals in 106 appearances is not good enough for a so called attacking midfielder/winger.

Admittedly we may feel like we got a rough deal due to his wages/ transfer fee and contract length (typical Roy signing) but even on a free I wouldnt be impressed. Stupid temprement, lack of end product. When he can take on a player then chances are he will just play with the defender rather than getting past him and building an attack (imagine a cat with a mouse - the cat could easily kill it but instead decides to trap it then let it go then trap it again)
He does have a degree of talent but Im not sure if his arrogance and tendancy to do something stupid means he will ever settle down to a consistant player.
