While what he did before was terrible, and he deserved to go down, we'll have to wait and see what happened here, there have been many instances where allegations against footballers have come to nothing.

Coincidentally, I found the attached story about a MAN getting sexually assaulted at London Bridge station (well groped in the toilets anyway). It was on a Saturday afternoon, platforms 1 and 2, where the stopping trains that go to Charlton leave from...but not on a match day or else Charlton fans would possibly be witnesses...

I read an article last year about sexual assault on men - apparently only a very tiny fraction of the offences committed are ever investigated, as the victims are usually too embarrassed to go to the Police. It's only when other harm is done to the victim, that the sexual assault is revealed. All very disturbing.

Yes, Hughes is 'innocent until proven guilty', but just look at the backdrop of sexual shenanigans and mysogyny that permeate the sport right from the FA downwards. In some quarters of the game, alleged behaviour like this would no doubt be shrugged off as 'high spirits' or 'laddishness'.

A more apt description would be 'neanderthal', I'd suggest.

Sorry - Mods, if you think that any of those statements is prejudicial to the site's wellbeing, I'd be happy to reword or withdraw.

This is true for all types of sexual assault.

By the way, not found guilty/not taken to trial is NOT the same thing as innocent.

I have a few Notts fans on my Facebook. They're in full denial overdrive at the moment.

My favourite sentence starts with: "Even when he was in prison for the accident"

That is pathetic, don't care if he didn't mean to do it, it's still man slaughter at least... can't call it an accident

    No problem Tweaks <ok>

Running from a car crash and hiding for 24 hours (I wonder why? Waiting for something to clear from his bloodstream?) are NOT the actions of a man with nothing to hide :(

The blokes just a waste of a footballer
Talented so-and-so on the pitch when he wants to be but also a complete piece of scum
If he's guilty then hopefully nobody will go anywhere near him again
... if he's innocent of this one then he'll probably do something else illegal in the future
Shame that Scratching Valley Cat isn't about as I would have loved to get his opinion on leopards changing their spots

I'm aware of both these things.

You have either misread or misconstrued my post.

Sorry Tweakes. The second part wasn't for you. It wasn't really for anyone, tbh. Just throwing it out there.

The first bit... I dunno... your post suggested it was an unusual feature of sexual assault on men, whereas it's a feature of sexual assault of all types. But fair enough <ok>

CAFC TED, that's what the Pies are like.

As low as the percentage of women who report sexual assaults of all types is (typically between 10% and 25%) the figure for men is less than 1%. Admittedly, it's a significantly less common crime, but still, a worrying statistic.

Conviction rates for all offences that reach the prosecution stage are a damned disgrace.

IA I think Tewkes point was more that (some?) men would find admitting to being sexually assaulted rather 'shameful'/'embarrassing' because it may feel like your 'masculine' image is at risk. Whereas I would presume woman not reporting rape would be more to do with wishing to repress the memory/fearing the implications it would have.

Probably some massive generalisations there (and sorry if I have mis-interpreted you Tewkes), but I feel that the reasoning behind not reporting a rape from a man would be different than the reasoning for a woman.

WWOCB, sorry, I didn't doubt what Tweakes said. Either way, it's bad that sexual offenders are still walking the streets because the people they attacked couldn't bring themselves to report it. Both 10% and 1% are very low figures for something so serious.

Notts County saying nowt, which is understandable for now
