Must be to go to Leeds, good move for them although master bates will I'm sure deliver promises he can't keep!
Having seen his work first hand last season, I must say I'm not surprised. His team rarely lost, but drew far too many games. They were 2-0 up to L orient twice last season & ended up drawing both times. Without him, they would probably have got promoted by now.
Apparently Papa Smurf phoned the Huddersfield chairman up and asked him to sack Clarke to save on paying any compensation. Which they agreed to.
Not to mention his record in the Championship, which is very successful when you consider what he's been working with. Blackpool doubled their wage budget when Holloway came in (not that it stopped Grayson assembling the core of a promotion-standard team) and everyone knows about the situation at Leeds.
You lads might have played some part in this, the rumour here in sunny Yorkshire, is that Clark met with representatives of Leicester City without permission.
Well he went on record of saying that he had no intention of leaving Huddersfield for us only 2 months ago. Plus why would they meet with him when Pearson has full backing of the owners?
I heard that from someone who works for the daily mirror. For a journalist not being able to spell his name right just shows how much he knows. We didn't meet with Lee Clark and if we did it wouldnt of been behind Huddersfield back as we would be breaking the rules
I assumed they meant before Pearson was appointed, but that the chairman had only just found out about it. It could be nonsense, there's a couple of people on football-rumours claiming that it's Leeds, rather than Leicester, that he was talking to without permission.
I wouldn't put it past Bates to be the one in the wrong tbh if its true, but for Clark now, its Leeds or bust.
