Is Bow being naïve or slightly stupid in thanking 'Ole Yellow' for rejecting the Djiksteel bids?.... Yellow is just waiting for an acceptable bid before accepting and at £1.6m I doubt if Boro and B Citeh have much further to go before he accepts.

Some fans are taking the current refusal to sell AD as a sign of the owner’s ambition. I’m serious.

Or was he being smart? He's been at Charlton long enough to realise AD would be sold, and has portrayed YT as betraying his trust when the inevitable happens.

My worst nightmare unfolded yesterday - another Charlton fan asked to share my taxi to the ground, and spent 10 mins regaling me about Chris Powell :headbang:<yikes>

For a minute, I thought I had met @Sat In Greenwich

Quickly escaping from this disturbed individual, I was then treated to another master class by Lee Bowyer.

What he lacks in financial backing, he more than makes up for in tactical acumen, motivational skills and an eye of a player.

You won’t win many games in the Championship with a starting midfield three of Lapslie, Pratley & Forster-Caskey, but the manager coaxed every last drop out of them yesterday, as well as the rest of our team.

What was also very evident yesterday is that despite the contract fiasco and the loss of key players, the team spirit is he has engendered remains excellent.

Just imagine what LB could achieve at Charlton with half decent backing.

<laugh> Pity it wasn't a half hour journey.

Seriously though, I love SCP but Lee Bowyer really is the best manager we have had since Curbishley and I'm not just saying that as a wind-up.
I always doubted him, but what he achieved last season has convinced me I was 100% wrong.

Bowyer has the potential to be up there with Lennie Lawrence and Curbs. One of the best we have ever had.
And I believe he can surprise everyone this season despite Duchatelet's lack of backing, and keep the dream of a play-off place alive for a long time.

Surely you meant Lenny Lawrence, Curbs and Jimmy Seed …. didn't you?

Yes, it was a bit slack of me not to include Jimmy Seed.
Seed was the greatest manager in our entire history, but sadly the passage of time means that despite being a historian stats enthusiast, I tend to remember Lawrence and Curbs first simply because I can remember those days.
My apologies to the shade of JS.

I agree with all the praise. If Powell was SCP, Bow must be Lord Bowyer.. no square pegs in round holes, each player knowing his job, give 100% or you're out. Like Bob Paisley he never sought the position of manager in the first place, and I don't think that's such a bad comparison.

Bowyer is no mug. He could see that Sarr was struggling yesterday and took him off quick. No sentiment. Off. Had that been Karl Robinson he would have persisted with Naby at left back for another 10 games, just so as not to be proven wrong.

I never minded Seed... until his name was taken in vain by a Millwall fan.

There must be a possibility of losing Bowyer if he receives an offer from a club which would support him. He is a winner, and would not want to oversee a relegation, which would be inevitable if Taylor goes without being replaced properly.

No club in their right mind would sell their top scorer 48 hours before the deadline with no hope of getting a replacement in before the window closes; we have no squad as such at the moment, and Bowyer has already stated that we need 5 or 6 new players even before Af. Diksteel situation arose!!

I cannot even begin to think there is any truth in the rumour about Taylor. However if it is true, and he goes then l cannot think for one moment that LB would consider staying, as the owner will have made his intentions obvious, and we would be absolute guaranteed to go back down again, and the effort of last season will have been in vain.

There is one contract that we need to undertake, and l do not mean signing a player......?

    Wasn't it only a 1 year deal?
