Bowyer only got the job as he was the only dude left in the building. Bexley is a wum whilst Peabrain will have to wallow in his bubble of Charlton love. Unfortunately for the Elf, I have been short for 52 years.
Lee Bowyer has only made one serious mistake in my opinion, though it is a strange one considering his extensive footballing experience; Believing he can get through a season with a 'lean' (threadbare) squad without losing key players to injury. I'm a great admirer of what Chris Powell achieved in season 2011-12, but I won't deny one factor in that great season was our low tally of injuries. Some might call that simple good luck, others will say it was down to sensible training and not having a squad full of known crocks. If Charlton's best players from this 2018-19 squad were fit all the time, I think we would have a first XI capable of challenging for an 'upper' play-off place (3rd or 4th) and perhaps even an automatic spot. But too many of our players have poor injury records - and these were known about when the players were recruited. Once again it looks like fragile players hired on the cheap may well be Charlton's undoing. That, alongside players who are fit being run into the ground and ending up injured anyway because their sick-note squad-mates never give them an opportunity to have the occasional weekend off.
I don’t think Bowyer remotely believes this squad is strong enough @lardiman Like all managers, he has to play political games with his owner to keep him on side. When Bowyer said in August that he was pleased with his transfer business, it was a bit like Katie Price saying she was pleased with her latest bit of plastic surgery ....the damage had already well and truly been done.
BowJackson MUST of had a chat with Steve Avory pre season and Steve would have told them (I guess) that there is not much in the U23's ready for the first team especially at left back so why did we bring in so much cover at Centre Midfield when we had U23 cover there and yet we ignored cover for left back when we only had one (rather delicate) first teamer for this position. This may have been because of inexperience or a dereliction of duty (I don't know) …. plus perhaps we didn't work as hard enough to keep Regan Charles Cook he is a utility player who can play Right Back, Right Midfield, Def Midfield and Centre Midfield... a very useful player to have kept.
Or BowJacko - which makes them sound like celebrity lovebirds or Siamese twins. I don't mind nicknames or slang names for managers who have earned them - like Gobbo or Pardwank (a classic ) But Bowyer & Jackson are trying to manage a football team, not partnering each other on Strictly or selling pics of their new love-nest to Hello magazine.
- Bowyer wants to sign a left back in January because of Page’s injury problems - Ward returns to Forest in January for definite - Cullen may return to West Ham in January - their intentions are still unknown
Over a third of the season gone, and Charlton sitting a pretty dire 11th in the league table. We expect better, Lee.
I will stick with my gauging of a season, the position after 15 games. We'll hover around the play-offs without cementing a spot.
No way should we ever be dropping out of the top 6 all season in this dog sh1t league. To be where we are already shows we are not good enough or consistent enough. I’ve run out of patience and excuses - Accrington Stanley are 4th
Something of a pressure game today for Lee Bowyer and the players. Looking at how the league table is becoming stretched, we really need a win to get us back to just outside the play off places. A draw doesn’t really help, and a loss today could well see us slipping into the bottom half of the table Once again, the lack of ambition being demonstrated by certain ex CAST members on forums isn’t helping. “Enjoying a day out at Wembley” is unlikely to make its way into Fergie’s next book It’s up to Lee Bowyer to get that defence properly organised so we start getting some clean sheets, which in turn will enable us to nick some 1-0 wins.
Only 3 clean sheets in 15 league games this season. Only 5 points from our last 6 games. Looking very much like yet another season of abject failure at Charlton. Down to 13th in this p1ss hole of a league
It won’t occur to him that this time last season after 15 games we had 30 points. We currently have 22.
