Every single manager except Fraeye has had a decent start under Roland, only to have the rug pulled by the Virus. Riga was the only one to walk (2nd time). I can't imagine that Bowyer hasn't thought of quitting, but I expect him to see out his contract, or at least wait until promotion is impossible, before he walks.
I can't see LB staying beyond his contract, unless we go up, which would quite frankly be little short of a miracle after Roland's transfer window. Jacko will be offered the job, but surely he won't take it. He's been there since Roland arrived, and knows exactly what to expect, and being a very intelligent man he won't want to start his managerial CV with a failure. That leaves Jason Euell, no idea what he'll say.
He could come over once a week, give the team talk then fly back to his master. Roland must be thinking "If we can do without a CEO we can do without a manager"
I do this job for nothing. I have never once asked other 606 Members for wages. I work a 18 hour day keeping this site going. Inkblot nicked my Membership list . Etc Etc #JustLikeIvor
Bowyer confirms that nothing has been said to him about a new contract. He thinks that it will happen but I'm not so sure. Roland knows that the fans with one or two exceptions like Bowyer, and so it would give him great pleasure to pull the trigger once more.
Lee Bowyer has been charged by the FA for swearing and abusing the referee at Wimbledon on Saturday. Thats what we all like to see - a Charlton manager with passion
Can't argue with that. Giving the officials earache is much better than pretending you're not that interested like some managers do. I've never understood these gaffers who don't even react when their team scores. They might think it makes them look superior and cool. It just makes them look like twats.
Is it a coincidence that the news about Thomas Driesen has leaked out from Team Bowyer at this time? My hunch is that tensions have been building behind the scenes since the Joe Mason fiasco at the end of January. Driesen must have scouted Josh Parker via Football Manager 2012, which informed him that Parker was a good player. Bowyer would be free to walk away this summer with his head held high.
Bowyer has said recently (after the Mason situation) that he and Jacko want to sign new contracts. It seems that he supports the players in red & white not the regime.
I wonder if Bowyer will sign a new contract before we know whether Charlton are promoted or not. If LB wins promotion for CAFC, other Clubs might well wish to make him good offers to go and manage for them instead. Offers that won't come if Charlton are still in L1 next season.
