Lee and Whelpdale

This really annoys me. If Hessy is seriously interested in signing them then just keep it quiet. Do not go broadcasting it to every other club so we miss out again.

Probably just big talk I know but the only reason I can see for making this interest public is to divert attention away from his real targets.

 

I would love it, Absolutely love it if we sign them.

Seriously though this is not exactly new news. We've been interested in them for a while though. Signings of this calibre would be a step in the right direction

We haven't got a hope in hell! 1) because we can't afford them/won't pay them what they want and 2) they've both just been promoted to the Championship so why on earth would they want to drop down to league 2!

 

Perhaps they would join us if we included Luncheon Vouchers in the deal!

Let's get realistic we won't get them. Like Cody was they are too good for this level and if they do play in league 2 it'll be for money. Money we don't have!

on another note from gills connect it seems that howe has been released as well. thought he looked handy when he was here anyone else think he's worth a punt?

 

Rene Howe was excellent at the back end of the league one relegation season and was outstanding in the Leeds and Southampton wins. Definitely worth a contract. Better in the air than Bayo, faster and equally as good at holding the ball.

 

If I enjoy this season half as much as last season, then I would have enjoyed last season twice as much as this new one. Now that is something to look forward to!! Where is the nearest roof to jump off?

 

Problem with Howe is he don't score many, Could do with 1 top scorer and one Like Bayo.

 

Yes Howe was decent but like Hoadie has said he doesn't score many. Whether it's because he's not a natural finisher or the system he was being played in under Stimson meant he wasn't as far forward as he would have liked, if we signed him he certainly needs to score around the level that Bayo did so it doesn't put any more pressure on our number 1 striker..... that's of course if we have any

 

Howe with Stefan Payne could be a possibility, Payne definitely showed he could find the net with the reserves so i don't see why he shouldn't be given a fair chance?

 

I find it interesting to see the polarised opinions that our club, manager and chairman create, on one thread we have people moaning that we don't know who we are pursuing and here we have people moaning that we play our cards close to our chest, they cant win!!! From my own point of view I think we should keep our targets to ourselves, its better on 2 fronts one we dont alert other clubs and 2 we dont build up expectation and hope, then lose credibility when we dont sign players we are supposedly chasing, having perused the PFA list this afternoon I actually feel quite uninspired by the players listed too many of them seem to have that one last pay day look about them, I think that we either look for non - league or hungry youngsters released by premier/championship teams, we dont have a great track record with "experience" so lets get some players who are really hungry to either prove there old club wrong or looking make an impact in the league

 

Apparently Peterborough have now accepted bids from Colchester, Oxford and NORTHAMPTON for these two. I read somewhere that we offered 15K for the two of them as well. If this is true, then this supposed we have for the "right" players is clearly non-existent and i'm unsurprised that players are joining lower clubs and rejecting us that kind of money for two quality players is insulting, hopefully this is just speculation and rumours because it would be very grim if that's the state of the club now.
