Terrible shame for him. Had it not been for that knee injury, he could've easily been one of England's best centre-backs, andn ow he's done at the age of 31. And yet, his lasting legacy will be scoring a goal in 10 seconds v Bradford...
It was remarkable how good he was in his later years considering he only trained once a week. Could have had an amazing career.
Bit harsh. I'm sure he would swap most of his wealth for an injury free career where he was able to fulfil his potential.
Although he couldn't stop Saints putting 4 past his Spurs side, with no reply, in the FA Cup. Apparently, according to some idiot called John Motson, that was due to Dean Richards [RIP] not playing. And there's silly old me thinking it was due to Saints outplaying Spurs. But of course not. Anybody with half a brain would know it had nothing to do with Saints playing them off the park. Spurs just had a bad night. And Ledley King was their best player, by quite a wide margin. Beatts gave him a hell of a match to remember.
Were it not for injuries just imagine... Woodgate and King, England partnership for the best part of a decade. Such a shame.
