http://www.led-zeppelin.org/joomla/...eppelin-celebration-day-official-announcement How about that? The greatest rockband ever with a movie from that reunion gig 2007. Here is a trailer from it. Everybody who is intrested should be over the moon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbusDxLekPQ
What a load of bollox. 5 years later they look for another cash-cow. The original concert was a farcical rip-off with tickets going to everyone but the real fans and now they're gonna milk it with a dubbed and remixed version. They released 'Mothership', a rehashed greatest hits a few days after that concert to cash in on the hype and now come back for another helping through this rip-off. They're a shadow of the real group who've not given a f*ck about their fans for decades but don't mind the royalties. They can f*ck off and play with their wallets...
Wow, I can just imagine Barry Took reading that one out on ' Points of View. ' For those that are too young to remember the show............... [
Reminds me a bit of Status Quo and their constant 'final, final, final ever tour'. Give me 'Hawkwind' or 'Alabama 3' any day.
Ok.....I must say im bit of suprised here. Reunion gig 2007 was the their first one after one they did in live aid 1985. Superhoop you didnt have to bought that mothership collection. I know i didn't it just the way every great bands do. They probably milk money out of this and many another collections and dvd:s too, thats a fact but thats the way music business go. That future movie is maybe little "helped" with remixes and bit of sound dubbed but.......who cares! The music is great band is rocking and that is the only thing that matters IMO. Now you probably say that it doesn't sound excactly as they sound in 70's but it doent have to. For that i just watch&listen my Led Zeppelin double DVD with all material from Madison Square Garden(-73), Earls Court (-75) and Knebworth (-79). Staines, this future movie is nowhere near Status Quo's final, final ever tour.
QPR was good 1969 and it still is good 2012. Obviously this was a wrong forum to wrote about Led Zeppelin. My apologies to all.
No need to apologise Igor. You can post what you like on here. ( Within reason. ) There are plenty of Led Zep fans on our board. This thread will grow. It's just that the wrong ones posted first. I have to say though, that you only have a small target audience as most of the youngsters on here will never have heard of them. They're too old, even for me. Even the ones old enough to remember them might not like them though. Good luck mate.
I'm not a massive fan, but I am interested in the thread as I spent yesterday at work programming in the shows for Picturehouse cinemas. If you're a fan of Led Zep then I recommend going along to one of the participating Picturehouses! http://www.picturehouses.co.uk/News/item/Led_Zeppelin_Celebration_Day/ (plug over)
There's a lot wrong with bands reforming but that's from a motivation that is possibly irrelevant to fans. When I got to see the Stone Roses earlier this year, did I consider the reasons for their breakup or the number of truck loads of cash that turned up at their doors before they relented? Or the fact that a one off gig turned into a weekend and then a tour? Nope, I just grabbed that ticket with both hands and revelled in a chance that I never had as a youngster. Same applies to Led Zep. Listening to any of the surviving members, you can see that they've still got it and there's a lot for people still to enjoy (and a new generation to influence). Sooper is right. It may be the record company or the band cashing in but if we ignored every band that were after their (fame and) fortune then the music scene would be even bleaker than it is already.
I should also say that the big, cash-cow reunions were started way back by the likes of the Eagles and so it's not a new thing. In fact, Led Zep's biggest crime, in terms of the fans, was not doing more money spinning gigs so a wider audience could have seen them.
Moral outrage over a bit of marketing! In the same week as Hillsborough findings! FFS get a sense of proportion Sooper and others. My taste is more often towards the Staines end of things, but Zep are an exception, a great noisy blues band. And I was at the O2 and they were great - a dirty sound, which left the youngsters slack jawed. Who cares how much 'product' they put out, no one is forced to buy. Highly recommend 'It Might Get Loud' , film featuring Jimmy Page, the superb Jack White and the tragic Edge ( just blown away by the other two). Clip below. bands need to tour- lots of people dont buy albums anymore because they can download them for free. Id see them live, why not?
I think I mentioned before but my late parents both grew up with Peter Grant and so my life was all about LZ. No one has ever come close to their sound in my opinion. This smacks exactly what Jason has had to grow up with all his life but you can't change people's opinions. LZ will continue touch all generations and that's good enough for me Time to look deeply into the mirror and ask what have I done with my life
