Leave QPR... or forget the World Cup! Brazil boss Scolari wants Cesar playing regularly By Sami Mokbel PUBLISHED: 22:00 GMT, 17 January 2014 | UPDATED: 23:42 GMT, 17 January 2014 Julio Cesar has been warned he must leave Queens Park Rangers this month or face World Cup heartache. Cesar was expected to be Brazilâs first-choice keeper this summer, but manager Luiz Felipe Scolari has admitted his concerns over the 34-year-oldâs lack of first-team action. Scolari says the Champions League winner must play regularly between now and June or face losing his starting place. His spot in the squad is said to be secure. Cesar has played just twice this season: in an elite development squad game against Wycombe in October and the 4-0 defeat against Everton in the FA Cup third round this month. The keeper is Harry Redknappâs third choice, so he does not even make the bench on match days. Cesar, who has 18 months left on his deal, is desperate to leave and QPR are just as keen to move him on. But his £70,000-per-week wages are proving a stumbling block in trying to find him a route out of Loftus Road. The former Inter Milan starâs representatives are working hard on trying to secure a move for him this month, and Sunderland are interested. Their manager Gus Poyet hopes to lean on former Chelsea team-mate Kevin Hitchcock, QPRâs goalkeeping coach, to secure a deal, while there are a number of interested clubs overseas. can only be good news, either he's gone in 2 weeks or he's staying no matter what. I suspect this is why green hasn't been offered a new contract. there's no point if Cesar is going to stay.
Meaning we would have Cesar as first choice goalie?? That would be incredibly harsh on Green. Hope Big Phil can help Cesar to go.
I know but the choice is to pay 140k a week to two players when only 1 can play. Ironically smithies playing today is one of those that should be considered the departing goalie. Cue cock up from him this afternoon losing them the match.
So true! i can't even think about what the wages for SWP, Barton, Young, Zamora...etc must add up to every week
Harry was asked that question in the press conference, he said that there are a lot of players who's contract is expiring but they will all need to wait until we know if we are going up or not.
oh FFS we've actually agreed on something, now I know how people on here feel dirty when agreeing with me. of course most of them aren't going to be offered contracts but he can't exactly say that, I don't think there's a single player I'm worried about losing.
He was saying that we would need to be in the premiership for Nico Nico to be interested in signing....... there you go mate, bet you don't feel dirty no more eh!
