Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao has claimed he was the subject of an official bid from Tottenham.

The 22-year-old Internacional forward has been linked with a number of high-profile European clubs, including Spurs, Juventus and Real Madrid.

But Tottenham were the only club to make an official offer and the striker would like to stay with his present team until 2014.

He told Sportv: "I'm glad for the interest and for the enquiries, but the only official offer was made by Tottenham.

"If there are other offers, we'll talk, but for now I'm not worried."

About playing for his present club, he added: "Inter[nacional] give all the best conditions for our work.

"I'm in a great moment right now and I intend to stay at Internacional until 2014 unless there is a good offer that is good for Internacional, not only for me."

Damiao believes he needs a regular run of games both for his club and country after recently returning from injury.

"I need a sequence," he said. "I got injured and missed some games. I only returned recently, but I've been improving. I had a much better performance against Argentina.

The offer must have been crap, so nobody was tempted. We all know how prudent, shrewd / tight, stingy Levy is.

Allegedly, they want over £20mill and we don't want to pay over £14mill so I hope we've just moved on to new targets that can be bought for a more reasonable price.

What's highly irritating is that we could have bought Leandro last summer for roughly what we're now willing to pay. But, of course, last year Levy wouldn't pay it, and his bid was turned down.

They've been playing silly buggers for a while - they name a price, we make an offer, they raise the price and claim interest from Barca/Real/Juve/PSG. The process repeats time and time again.

I distinctly remember that they named a price last summer that was not unadjacent to the figure we are supposedly bidding now. If we had just paid up, for once, last year, he would probably be a Spurs player now.
